Terrence LeVarr Thornton (born May 13, 1977),[2] better known by his stage name Pusha T,[3] is an American rapper, songwriter and record executive. He rose to prominence as one-half of the hip hop duo Clipse, which was mainly active from 1994 to 2010, alongside his older brother No Malice. As Clipse, the two released three studio albums and a number of mixtapes, and had hit singles including "Grindin'" and "When the Last Time" (both 2002). They also founded the label Re-Up Records and the fashion label Play Cloths.
In September 2010, Pusha T signed to Kanye West's GOOD Music imprint, under the aegis of Def Jam Recordings. Later that year, he was featured on West's single "Runaway," which peaked at number 12 on the Billboard Hot 100. In 2011, he released his first solo project, the mixtape Fear of God. He released his debut solo album, My Name Is My Name, in 2013. In November 2015, Kanye West appointed Pusha T to take over his role as president of GOOD Music. Pusha T has since then released three more solo albums: King Push – Darkest Before Dawn: The Prelude (2015), Daytona (2018), and It's Almost Dry (2022), all of which received widespread acclaim; the latter was Pusha T's first number one debut on the Billboard 200.[4]

  • Pusha T is an artist that doesn’t get his flowers enough, that man has had a legendary career that very few could replicate
  • @okyabo
When u wanted to play "The Games We Play" around 15:30 u accidentally played "Nosetalgia" again
  • @DangeistYT
Never mess with a man who gets happy rapping about coke💀
  • @ajtaylor8750
He followed up a perfect album in "DAYTONA" with one of the best albums of 2022 in "It's Almost Dry." I remember the first time ever hearing Clipse was on the old school stereo and hearing "Grindin" truly changed my life. One of the greatest rap songs of all-time and man does that production from Pharrell slap 🔥
  • @J.E.T.Lee16
As a Pusha fan, this was well put together. No way could it be perfect, but this is a wonderful ode to him and his fans
  • @ErnThaGAWD
Pusha T is my favorite rapper for all these reasons. Dude is near 50 and is still one of the most consistently growing artist of the last 20 years!
  • I think you accidentally put nostalgia in the section where you meant to play the games we play
  • @deanoor9391
Pusha T's verse on Logic's song Wrist is one of my favorite features of all time Push making Drake be a dad was one of the wildest L's ever
  • Pusha along with styles P have to be the two most underrated rappers who are still well known
  • @Whodnl
I love your video essays as they are some what personal but also have fact base story telling. You’re editing style is very unique to you then just simple transition. You definitely inspire me to make more.
  • This is such an amazing video , Pusha T is an incredible artist and his ability to keep reaching new heights in his artistry and accolades really truly shows how special he is as an artist. This video truly represents that and I think videos like this really show artists like Pusha T and many more artists that are at this caliber of artistry that we are listening and we appreciate their work. More importantly, we are inspired. Thank you Phillip 🙏🏿

Being born and raised in Virginia beach, VA we weren't lucky enough to have DOZENS of famous artists that came from our city like so many rappers today. Pusha T was MORE than an amazing artist. He was our HERO in ALL of the 7 cities (757) and while his brother reminded us to repent and thank God for every moment he gives us to breath, Pusha taught us too keep GRINDING for what you believe in and to always remember to grsnning8
  • Been waiting a long time for a well-made video essay like this on Pusha T. This one felt very personal to you too. As always, great job!
  • I’m from the 757 and I go to the same Church as No Malice in Chesapeake. I saluted him in the hallway about going his way and also giving respect to Push from a standpoint as a man and not a fan. Good guy. Thanks for covering this. Subbed.
  • @supdookie
Pusha T got this Grammy in the bag, I’m rooting for him. My fav rapper
  • @jerodwolf5582
Can we appreciate how this man put the biggest artist of the 2010s in his place? Just the fact that Push fucked up Drake by revealing his child that he ignored was so amazing. Proves Drake is a jester in rap, while Pusha T is a king!!
  • @Nohledge
Amazing video! Truly rediscovered him since Daytona and It’s almost dry is easily my favorite album of 2022.
  • Fantastic video, I’ve been waiting for someone to make a well edited video about Pusha’s success, and I can tell a lot of research and digging went into this one. (Btw one small thing that’s annoying me rn, 15:33 is Nosetalgia but it’s supposed to be playing The Games We Play. Great vid otherwise)
  • @ucevrim
He did indeed mastered his subject. “Don't fear the man who knows 1,000 techniques. But fear the man that has practiced one technique 1,000 times”
  • Great job! It's a helluva time to be a Push/Clipse fan... with the year Push has had (with his first #1 album), Clipse doing some live performances, the official release of "Exclusive Audio Footage", with videos like this - and Complex just a few days ago posted an amazing conversation to celebrate the 20th anniversary of Lord Willin' with No Malice, Push & more. Can't wait to see what the future of Pusha and Clipse offers! Edit: Although I absolutely love My Name Is My Name, I do agree that there's something about Darkest Before Dawn - it definitely stands out as a turning point and it set the table for what came after it.
