Don't talk while the conductor is talking!

Yet another very important point in the life of a professional musician. Thank you Julia for bringing this point to the fore!

In my day. There might be a little talk before hand but once the conductor taps his or her podium or stand, usually with his or her baton, you shut up. Simple! 😊 from the point the conductor takes control of the rehearsal, I'd listen, not talk.😅

Also, if you win an audition for a full time orchestra, that kind of talking is not going to help you at all concerning getting tenure. I have experienced that kind of behavior and worse in orchestra. At one concert one of these constant talkers actually arrived onstage with literally a couple of minutes to spare. I asked her if she was okay and she told me she had gone to Trader Joe’s for lunch and was parked illegally. In a situation like that all you can do is shake your head and smile.🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄
