Hello everyone! Hope you are all doing great. In todays video I went over how to tame your budgie and how to set yourself up for success. I am no means a professional, but this video was requested a lot so here are my tips and tricks. If it helped you out, please let me know and give this video a thumbs up! My budgie Frank is still in the taming process and I keep everyone updated on my instagram so feel free to give me a follow :)

Listed below are some main points I went over so you don't have to keep on rewatching the video.

- 1 budgie is easier to tame than two. If you do have two budgies, keep them in separate cages
- The best age to get a budgie is between 8-12 weeks. The older the bird, the harder it can be to tame.
- I would highly advise against wing clipping because birds have a flight or fight response. If you take away their flight, when they feel in danger they will bite.
- NEVER force a bird up onto you, yell at them, or punish your bird.
- If a budgie is on a proper diet, they will have high value treats. You can use these treats in training sessions.
- If you do get bit, never have a reaction or pull your hand away because it encourages this biting behaviour.
- The step up method is shown. In the video at 4:50
- Training sessions should be only 2-5 minutes long, a couple times a day.
- Talking and making weird sounds can make your bird interested in you so they will want to come to you.
- If you have an aggressive bird, you can use the shake method. Its shown in the video at 7:20
- Some aggressive budgie body language includes, leaning away from you, striking your hand, a stiff body, and running away from you.

I hope this video helped at least someone out there. If you want me to post any other specific videos, just let me know. Stay safe everyone.

ahh! this helped so much! I got 2 budgies at the start, not one, so that explains why I have had them for a year and they still hate me. (Yes, I tried taming multiple times and a gentle way, nothing worked.) I have a spare cage (proper size for 1 bird) so, I'm going to separate them for the training process. But I will be keeping the cages next to each other so they don't miss each other.

Yeah Kai our budgie is really bonded to our quaker parrot Nike. We introduced them to each other pretty early on but Kai still lets us interact and train with him.
