♥watch me in 4k!♥

this was not planned, but when is it ever lol. thankyou guys for tuning into my journey! happy to have a space to share and encourage you all to trust yourselves in your own journey :)

ALSO forgot to note: i choose not to oil my scalp because i feel like that's what was causing the itching so soon. i'm going to stick to hair serums instead (more on that in the next episode!)

  • We gon come back to these first few videos in a couple years like "omg I remember when she started her loc journey🥺🥺"
  • @ayanatheog5886
As someone who’s been loc’d for 3 years, I say do you!! Not everyone’s journey is one size fits all. I went from experimenting and doing my own retwist to going back to who started my locs originally for maintenance because I needed more care than someone like me who isn’t a professional. You’re doing amazing ❤
  • @QUEEN_323
Doing your own retwists at the start of the journey is so much more rewarding than getting professional service. Just being fully in charge of your foundation feels amazing. I washed whenever I felt like it, sometimes no retwist at all. It made my locs loc so much faster than if I was waiting monthly to be seen and having all that goop on my hair (chile they using edge control in peoples locs.. I don’t feel like checking nobody or questioning what they are using) .. But after my 1st year down I’m ready to sit in somebody’s chair! No lie! 😂😴

I love that you’re trusting your intuition when it comes to your locs cause I’m doing the same 🤎 So much of the “rules” / tips are from people with different hair textures, scalp types, lifestyles, etc. It’s so important to learn what works for you! We started our locs around the same time and I’m so excited to see how our journeys differ or intertwine. Your scalp and hair look so healthy so I already know you have a GREAT base 😍
  • On my second set of locs. Water definitely helps with the locking process. Don't let them tell you different.

The beautiful thing about locs is they change with each wash. Its empowering see to see the change with each wash. 😍 You aint seen nun yet love bug!! 💋✨ Just patiently wait. 🤗 It gets better and more fun! The itch that come with starter locs ain't for the weak. 😂😂😂 A tough phase for sure but it gets easier once they mature and the hair has finished detoxing. PS: Witch Hazel and QTip weekly between retwists/washes. Witch hazel is an antibacterial that cleanses and moisturizes. We all have a Starter Loc Horror story. 🙍🏾‍♀️ Girl I washed mine because it was itching so bad in beginning with a wig cap and it got sooo puffy. Lolol I thought I'd have to start over, but it made my locs bud faster. 😜 Your excitement is contagious! I just love your energy in this video. Locs just do something to our confidence. The locs chose you. 💫

I think the beautiful thing about this journey is having the space to figure out what uniquely works for you and your hair type/ texture. Everyone is different and so is our hair. You experimenting or not following certain “rules” or even advice is completely okay🤍 you do you sis🌻
  • @Cee_af
Wow welcome to the loc’d community! I used to watch all of your natural hair stuff a while ago when i was a loose natural ! And was curious how your journey was going lol , so happy to see the update !
  • @amorshriTV
You did a good job on the retwist! I've been locd for a year, and its one of the best decisions I've made. ♥️
  • @monyaromera
Try a stocking cap on while washing. Helps with the frizz and you can still scrub your scalp like crazy
  • @smiller0612
You’re excitement has me excited for you🤗
  • I dry shampoo with a toothbrush every week because my scalp is itchy as well but water mixed with tea tree oil spray them when it itches helps a great deal
  • @AliyahhStephens
Your hair looks so good!! Iv been loced a little over a year and I used to drench mine in water every day when I first got them and I swear the friz mixed with stretch and constricting with going from wet to dry hair made my hair loc faster.
  • @NaysOwnWorld
I’ve learned to explore with my locs. I listen to my scalp and hair/locs. I normally wash my hair every 3-5 days. I think that helped my hair loc faster. I started my locs with braids/plaits. I honestly felt like it was going to take forever for my hair to loc up lol. I’m now one year loc’d! I’m so excited to watch your journey! 💖
  • @FEMALETWEETY
I'm loving this loc journey!!! 🌱🌱🌱YES, we know you are gonna do YOU (and we will continue watching because that's one of the things we love that you do!)
