I've been in trucking since the late eighties. It has never at any point gotten better. All you are is a stupid mule to be used and spat out when you have nothing left to give.

For example, last week, I was working recaps. I drove 7 hours and had to stop at 1300 and pull out at 0200 AM. RIDICULOUS. As for California, yeah, after 6 years of hard core OTR, the only ticket I have is a lane violation because I committed the offense of using the center lane through Ventura to allow entering and exiting traffic. Now, I follow the law, 55 mph in the right lane at all times. Makes perfect sense. Right? By the way, I own this Cascadia. How does the Federal Government have the right to track me at all times? If I'm empty and want to drive home after dropping from Houston to McAllen, how is that their business? At that point, my truck is my motor home. It actually weighs less than my brother's Diesel 40' Monico. This is not a free country. This is why my Godson was blown in half in Afghanistan? We buried him 10 days before his 21st birthday. Why? This country is BS!

All these regs, and still there are accidents all over the place. Its almost seems as if someone wants to destroy independent trucking altogether. But of course they would never do that...

I agree you everything you said… as an owner operator out of California, I run to Vegas and Phoenix and trying to maintain clean logs has been difficult.

They need to start regulating the 4 wheelers than the truckers because the 4 wheelers are most likely who causes more wrecks with a truck than a truck on its own..

It's no different than many industries including grocery, pharmacy, banking... this country needs to incur higher taxes on any business that meets the criteria of a "large business." A thriving economy is dependent on small businesses. Otherwise we will all eventually work for either Amazon, Walmart/ Nestle/ Target/ Wells Fargo/ etc. It's obvious why more people are becoming poor. As small businesses leave the market or merge into the large companies, those companies control the salaries. More people need to have more control. I agree 100%. I wish I knew how many appointments I missed due to the shippers or road conditions. That was part of the reason I switched to flatbed. The receiver is usually happy to get the materials I have for them. Most are open window fcfs. Even most with appointments are generous with time allowance.
