It was, quite simply, the most enthralling Test match in living memory. Chasing 282 in the final innings at Edgbaston, Australia slipped to 220-9, and it looked for all the world like England would level the series. However an extraordinary and typically gutsy Australian rearguard from Brett Lee and Michael Kasprowicz, brought the Aussies to within 3 runs of victory. Then Steve Harmison turned on his mark to bowl to Kasprowicz, and the rest is history.

there is no other sport in the world that can match the level of skill, tactics, strategy, tension and drama you get in test cricket
  • As an Australian, this doesn’t get any less painful each time you watch it. You know the outcome, you know exactly whats gonna happen. But still every time you come back and watch you get tempted into thinking we’re gonna win it this time. It is definitely the greatest test match ever.
  • It's a tradition to come back once in a while and revisit this classic. Epic

I was driving my girlfriends car at the time when that final wicket fell. The celebrations almost caused a crash and she said to me "Why are you getting so excited, it's only cricket." It was at this point I knew breaking up was inevitable.
  • This game was that good even my Mum put on the TV and started watching. She's only watched one game since, last year's World Cup final.

Best ever test match... 2005 Ashes edgbaston. 2021 Gabba Fort Fallen. 2019 Ashes Headingly. Funfact all were against mighty Australia 😅
  • From 137/7 to 175/8 to finally reaching to 279 and falling short of just by 2 runs. This Australian team was absolutely brutal. Have never seen a team as savage as this one. If there batsmen scored 130 they’d make sure to get you out well below that. You could never rest assured against this team unless you took that last 10th wicket or hit that last winning run.

First time watching Australian head coach Justin Langer playing. He was hell of a player. His drives are impeccable
  • Even English were struggling to win at home. Hats off to the Aussies. They literally Never gave up.

My parents made me go birdwatching with them on that final day. For as long as we all will live, I will never, ever forgive them for it.

Edgbaston 2005 and Headingly 2019 it may excite me forever...
  • Whenever I watch this I have these nerves feeling like the Aussies are always going to win, even though I know the result. Unbelievable test match.
