Frozen 2 opened our eyes to a lot more of the lore surrounding Elsa and her icy powers. Throughout the film, we got to follow Elsa on her journey to discover the truth, which ultimately led her to Ahtohallan where she learned that she was the fifth element, and necessary for balance to be restored. Now, for a lot of people, there is the common misconception that only four elements exist in nature in terms of fire, water, earth, and air. But, they are actually off by half. Instead of four elements, there are actually eight, and many think the film made this pretty clear when they named Elsa the fifth element.

Now, no one knows who the other missing elements are just yet, but surprisingly enough, it looks like Olaf may have actually given us a huge hint as to who the sixth element is supposed to be. Not only is she likely going to be the embodiment of lightning, but she is also likely going to play a major role in the events that take place in the highly anticipated Frozen 3.

  • Remember how we saw Rapunzel for a split second in Frozen 1? She's the Sundrop, and in the Tangled Series, there's also the Moonstone. That's light and dark accounted for.
  • @k3stre1
The Samantha part is a good theory, but I’m almost 100% sure the line he said was improv by Olaf’s voice actor
  • "Olaf told us who the 6th elemental is" My brain: Olaf didn't even know the sun would melt him, I don't trust anything he says.
  • @erinkampen4260
There are 5 elements: Earth & Wind, Fire & Water, and Spirit, which binds them all together Everything else can be made from various combinations of those original 5. Lightning = fire + wind Ice = water + wind Light = fire + spirit Dark = water + spirit
  • I would actually argue that the opposite of ice would be energy, in the form or lightning. Here's my reasoning: Fire and water have always been traditional opposites Earth and air are in a similiar boat (one in the sky, one on the land) Light and dark is kind of obvious So that leaves ice and lightning. If you inturpret ice to be a sort of halfway point between water and earth (a solid form of a liquid), then by that logic lightning would be a halfway point between fire and air (a burst of heat thats spawned in the air).
  • it has been basically confirmed that tangled is the same universe as frozen, so Raps and the sundrop and moonstone must be the light/dark elements, right?
  • Hmm, interesting theory... I wonder if 'Samantha' fell into the same trap as Elsa of going too deep into Ahtohallan, and therefore is still suspended (presumably in a way related to her powers, a little like how Elsa was frozen solid) somehow in the bowels of Ahtohallan? My other idea was perhaps Elsa and Anna's parents weren't looking for a "cure" or answers relating to Elsa's powers - after all, Iduna was part of the Northuldra, she would have known about the legend of the spirits, and would've likely guessed that to be the cause of Elsa's ice abilities. Perhaps there was an older sister, or a relative of Elsa, called Samantha, who went missing after being born with the ability to control lighting etc.?

2 things to add: The reason why Elsa could tame the water spirit could be because water and ice are two sides of the same coin. She is not able to fully calm it down but since she found her opposite and shared a bound with water, she could give it some relief. And you can see lightning happening in the background of her encounter with the Water spirit. lightning is a energy discharge so there could be a connection there... Could it be trying to call the lightning spirit by summoning a storm?

Sense Rapunzel has the power of the sun, which counts as a light element and Cassandra had the power of the moon, which counts as a darkness element, I would love to see Frozen 3 and find out if they are the 7th and 8th spirits

I would like to know more about Kristoff's family in the third film. I thought it was interesting in the 2nd film when he met someone else who could speak like the reindeers as he does. I was wondering if his family have some kind of connection as in the beginning of the first film, we saw Kristoff as a young boy with the men cutting ice. So be good to explore Kristoff's history also.

Ice and fire ( one can put out the other) Dark and light( without one the other can't exist) Air and earth ( one from land, one from sky) Water and lightning ( lightning can go though water) The middle spirit is love cause in the end that's what rescue everyone and tames the other spirits which is represented by anna and elsa.

The Fifth Spirit was a bridge between humanity and the magic of nature. This was clearly stated by Honemerren when she first introduced the concept of a Fifth Spirit and repeated by Elsa herself when she pointed out that a bridge has two sides and Idunna had two daughters. When team Elsa first reached the Enchanted Forest, there were exactly four pillars, each with a sigil depicting one of the four elements. For the purpose of the Frozen franchise, there are four elements and a bridge between them and their human friends and no more. When Elsa restored Olaf he asked if putting them in mortal danger was going to be a regular thing and she replied that no, they were done. Some people, myself included, think that she was speaking to the audience as well as Olaf and that the creative team have calling it quits while they're ahead.

A few things that are just weird and wrong in this video + theories: 1. "Smantha" was apparently confiremed to be improvised (not completely sure, but it would also be kinda weird) 2. You first show the elements in a circle that makes sense (except for the swapped fire/energy, don't know where that originates from but I'm pretty sure the four original elements are supposed to be a square?), and then suddenly Elsa is supposed to be Brunis opposite? Bruni is fire, which is the opposite of water, Nokk. Elsa would be the opposite of Energy in the case of 8 elements. 3. Nokk was guarding the glacier that agressively because only "worthy" people are supposed to get through. That's just the way of the water spirit. (I'm pretty sure that was confirmed as well) Nokk was never out of control. If anything, Bruni was the wildest, becasue it caused fire damage, but it was simply nervous and could be calmed by Elsa's cold, just like how Elsa could gain Nokk's trust. Elsa was also able to tame Nokk just as well as Bruni, which we can see in the scene you literally included in this video, when she freezes Nokk. The spirit is calm and at peace and takes her to Arendelle. 4. Just to add onto the Theory of 8 Elements, Sun and Moon would be the Sundrop and Moonstone from Rapunzel (the series), since they were in the beginning of the first film and take part in the same universe. The only one missing would be energy. 5. More theory: If the last one is energy and Elsa is the opposite, her element wouldn't actually be Ice but more of an Anti-Energy sort of thing. Which does make sense, since if you take thermal energy away from something, it gets colder. Though I'm not sure if that adds up with the canon, especially since she doesn't just freeze things in some instances, like making her dress.
  • im pretty sure the "samantha" line was just improv, but heres my theory: elsa was born with her powers/as a spirit because her mother did a noble deed and took her father out of the forest. they were rewarded with elsa's gifts. anna saved the forest by breaking the dam and balancing the wrong her grandfather made towards ther north uldra people, so it is likely that she could be rewarded when her and kristoff get married, and eventually have kids. their firstborn could represent another element, as a gift from the forest for freeing the north uldra people (and arendelle soldiers) from the mist. if we want to roll with all the samantha stuff, the future child could be named samantha and represent an element, most likely energy/electricity. in the first frozen movie, we saw a glimpse of rapunzel attending elsa's coronation. rapunzel could represent light/sun. in the tangled series, we also meet cassandra, who could represent the dark/moon element. this would also balance the scales completely, with all 8 elements present, 4 are more ethereal (giants, gale, nokk, and bruni) and 4 humans (elsa, samantha?, rapunzel, and cassandra)
  • @chocothun1
Honestly, I would think that the 3rd movie is going to focus on one final sister-sister conflict between Elsa and Anna -- specifically pertaining to their roles as rulers of their realms. The first movie was about the conflict of their separation. The second was the conflict of their identity. Now, Anna is Queen and her dedication is to her people, while Elsa is the 5th Spirit and her dedication is to the spirits now. It could be possible that each of their roles, much like what happened in Frozen 2 with Agnar and the Northuldra, could come into conflict between competing needs that will require them both to make the choice to fully bring their realms into harmony with one another.
  • I noticed in the movie that when we first see the water element she seemed to only appear when we see lightning strike. The lighting strike almost seemed like the thunder/energy element was helping Elsa to see the water element so that Elsa didn't die- this is just my theory so...
  • I thought Olaf saying "Samantha?" Was improvised. The creators have also said that Anna is the element of Love
  • Just hit me- Kristoff has a backstory we still have not heard, which seems to include a possible relationship with Northuldra (reindeer life...) and magic (raised by rock trolls). I'd suggest Frozen 3 could include HIS story, the wedding, and their firstborn girl (why not call her Samantha?) with likely powers (why not electricity?) and sent to be raised by her aunt with light/dark critters in Ahtohallan (because as scary as ice is, lightening in the house is even worse).
  • @Rumplestintski has a good point, and while reading that it makes me think on an even better theory. Yes, there might just be a 6th spirit, the lightning spirit , making the spirits a mess again, but who has that control over that spirit you may ask? Anna's daughter/son . I feel like after Anna becoming queen, she would like to have a kid because all she went through was alone and without power. And YES it was confirmed that Anna will be pregnant in frozen 3. And also, I searched loads of things after this vid, and one of them is that rapunzel is their couzin ( anna and elsas cousin ) On her dads side so maybe it is possible that rapunzel is the sun/light. Since Anna was hit by Elsa, and Anna carried the baby, the baby will have a power that conects to elsas, leaving the baby with Electricity/lightning, and then there is 1 element left, moon/dark. Who likes this theory?
