I’ve battled disordered eating since I was a child… this song touches my soul. 🙏🏻 Thank you Emmy.

As someone who has always been overweight even as a child and has struggled my whole life trying to lose weight, this song is beyond relatable to me. I felt this in every fiber of my being 😭
  • I didn’t have an eating disorder growing up, but I was always skinny and teased unmercifully throughout my school years. My dad always laughed at me and told me I was ugly and told other people I probably had worms. An awful way to grow up.
  • Wow. Even if I never saw her on American Idol, this song is lovely, powerful, and so well written. Bravo to Miss Russell for carving out her own path in the music industry. Love her sound and voice.

This was probably my favorite original song during the editions. Emmy is gorgeous and talented.

Oh this song is going to speak to the multitudes that are suffering in silence, every day, like myself from eating disorders. Thank you again Emily for your bravery, your authenticity, your courage, your absolute transparency. Thank you for listening to the Holy Spirit who put this song on your heart to help bring those who are suffering everyday from the lies of the enemy.

Emmy don't listen to any of the haters. You have one of the music beautiful, hypnotic and ethereal voices I've ever heard!!! Ethereal - extremely delicate and light in a way that seems too perfect for this world.❤

This girl is super amazing song writer...she tells the story of many of us in the world that might ask "why me" on many things, not just weight, etc. Hope this song touches many people in many ways. Remember you can do anything you put your mind to, just takes small steps to be a better you inside. Do not follow the rules of life you see on TV, etc. Your life is how you want to make it, so write down your own soul notes each day to find your way. Keep up the great work Emmy.
  • Wow. Great voice and message. Brings back memories of Karen Carpenter. Beautiful talented women with the voice of an angel. Devastated by anorexia before we really knew what it was. She died way to early because of it. 😢

This song touches millions, Emmy. You have such a gift in song writing as so many can relate to the emotions that resonate within these lyrics. You absolutely have a gift!

Emily, I came from a Facebook reel where the first thing you said was that you didn't want to talk about it... from myself and everyone else who has ever struggled, thank you for your strength and bravery to release and share your story

Bulimic and so relate to this song. I heard the same thing "You're so pretty.... if only" or "You could be anything..... if only". "Losing weight" should only have a bearing in health, NOT beauty, NOT intelligence, NOT aspirations. Parents, NEVER make your children feel "less than" by comments like this. Your daughters should hear "You're beautiful." PERIOD. NO QUALIFIERS! And "You can be anything!" PERIOD. NO QUALIFIERS, No "if onlys". I'm 59 years old and those "if onlys" from my childhood still hurt. Was put on my 1st diet at 11 yrs old....6' tall, 30 lbs overweight (Dr. supervised, 500 cal per day). I've yo-yo'd my ENTIRE life. Life has revolved around food, "do you need that", "don't eat that". 1st memories of 1st grade is a classmate telling me "You're fat". The teacher then, with good intentions, brings me to the front of the class and explains "why we don't tease classmates." Humiliating. I was only 6 and I STILL feel nauseous about that day 53 years later. Emmy, if this is written from your own personal experience, I'm so sorry you were made to feel "less".

emmy, this song means the world to me. when i first saw you on american idol a few months ago, i heard this song and knew right away that you were my favorite. the lyrics really get the struggle that i’ve been facing as a young teen who hates her body and has struggled with anorexia for the past year and a half. i’ve been trying to recover and the end of the song gives me strength to stand up to the voice in the back of my head telling me i’m too “fat” to be pretty. i know God made me the way i’m supposed to be, and your videos have been helping me remember that. not only are you so beautiful, but you’ve helped me so much. never listen to the haters and remember a 14 year old girl in New York has heard this song and used it to heal. thank you, i love you and am voting for you to win idol!
