I didn't think about Ms Bellum as a sexy body, I wondered why her face wasn't shown

When I was a kid, I didn't see Ms. Bellum as a "Sexy lady" I saw her as basically "someone's mom."

Funny enough, when my sister found the original series in Netflix, she binged the entire thing in a day, while the reboot could barely hold her attention for an entire episode.

Same reason why the original Tom and Jerry cartoons are so good. Remove the violence, anvils falling, and classical music by an actual orchestra, it’s a yawnfest. Violence has always been around in children’s literature. It could be psychological if not physical violence. From the days of the Brothers Grimm to Harry Potter. To remove any trace of problems in an attempt to shield children, assumes that children are too dumb to figure inherent things for themselves.

It's a sad day when Word Girl is more action packed than the new Powerpuff Girls. (Edit) Just wanna add I actually like Word Girl. Just wanted to make a joke.
  • 1998: Blossom: Smart, responsible leader who is reliable in the worst situations. Bubbles: Cute, likes things majority of little girls enjoy. That still doesn’t take away any of her strength Buttercup: Tomboy who wants to be physically strong. Sometimes she’s mean, but deep down she has a soft heart for her sisters and the citizens. Overall all of them fight well and them being little girls never takes away from their strength, which is rare in a show. Craig McCracken gave little girls relatable superheroes they can look up too. 2016: Blossom: Portrays OCD as a cute quirk. Not smart, just the kind of girl in school that cares more about the color of her highlighters on the page than the actual notes. Oh and she likes a boy. Remember when Blossom liked boys? Me neither. Bubbles: Quirky meme girl that you would walk away from the moment you realize they start referencing memes more than they breathe. Awww she’s so cute but WOAH LOOK SHE CAN GET MADDDDD IF YOU TAKE AWAY HER CANDY SEE SHE HAS FIRE AND SKULLS IN HER EYES DON’T MAKE HER MAAAD OOH SO QUIRKY AND NOT ALARMING. Oh but she’s good at programing, see guys we care about inspiring little girls by throwing that in there for 2 seconds. Buttercup: Watched too many classic Simpson episodes and wants to be Bart Simpson, but lacks the same charm. Oh and she’s an asshole to everyone, no redeeming qualities. And suddenly the focus of the show for some reason (even in the OP),I guess because girls acting like guys means feminism to the writers. Forget about the smart, responsible girl, all women need to have male qualities and testosterone to even be considered a true progressive woman. Oh and she raps too. Yeah. Quirky. The 2016 staff took a show that was already revolutionary for young girls, and turned it in to a show that is so bland and forgettable while patting themselves on the back for creating a show they think is progressive. I don’t see superheroes in the 2016 version, they can’t even fight for more than one second or have interesting personalities. Who watches the Powerpuff Girls to watch them fight over a school play to kiss a boy and get their asses kicked every episode?

I actually never noticed how violent the show was as a kid. Only now revisiting as an adult I've realized lol.
  • @N060DYkN0W5
...I never realized how violent the power puff girls were until I watched this.
  • I'm kind of shocked that they removed Miss Bellum, she was the smartest character on the whole show. Her name was literally Sara Bellum (cerebellum = motor control portion of the brain at the base of the spine), she was the brain character. What message was she sending? That women can be intelligent, resourceful, insightful AND be attractive AND have their own running gag? Funniest part is, I think they actually did show her face in one scene, and she pretty much looks like you'd expect. She kind of reminds me of Jessica Rabbit, but with curly hair.
  • @GooberInternet
"School sucks! And kids don't like it!" Truer words have never been said.
  • Should have talked about how one of the characters is a self insert that dates blossom
  • @kiki-drawer2669
If they didn't want to send a sexual message to kids with the mayors worker, then why was it ok for the kids to twerk lol.
  • Top 3 hated reboots: 1.PowerPuffGirls Reboot 2.TeenTitansGO 3.ThunderCats ROAR

10:57 this guy could probably animate a whole episode of PPG on his own and make it look better than even the old show! it's so clean and smooth and expressive but it keeps the artstyle perfectly!
  • @IloveHirotaka
I never saw Ms. Bellum as a sexy lady, she was just the mayor’s assistant and guide. I also never realized how violent this show was but I still liked it.
  • @kaitles2193
You’ve basically described “Teen Titans” and “Teen Titans Go!”.
  • @Kawaii_koneko
When I was a kid I didn't see Ms. Bellum as an objectified shell of a person because of the way she dressed and the natural curves of her body I was just mad that you had to buy the toy of her to see her face.
