Technically fry was frozen for exactly 1000 years, as a year is more than 365.25 days the leap year trys to rectify this but we still lose afew minutes every couple years thus by the year 3000 it would be about 6/7 hours before the new millennium, so the show actually is accurate in this regard based on how much time fry runs around new york and new new york during the pilot plus leela is about to finish her shift around that point so it would be about 5 or 6 in the afternoon so another pointer leading to it not being a mistake (i know we dont exactly know her shift times but most jobs do finish around that time in addition it being new years)

as a fun fact, it is possible for beard hair and head hear to not match as both my older brother and uncle have this trait (one is brown hair and a red beard and one was red hair and a brown beard)
