As a Mavs fan I wasn’t upset at losing the finals because getting to the final was such a huge success. Two years ago I’d thought Luka would leave and we’d have to rebuild. Now we have a great team with our biggest free agent signing since Monta Ellis
  • You can’t say Klay is motivated by one last pay day because he turned down bigger contracts to sign with Dallas. That means he’s got something to prove, which fits in with the mentality of the mavericks.

Watching Kyrie Luka and Klay play on the same team is going to be nice

Jason Kidd needs to make sure to use Klay to his fullest when he's on the floor. Can't stick him on the corners all day when he's so good in motion.

As a Mavs fan it hurts to see DJJ and Josh Green go. I’m a big fan of both of these guys game, but, after experiencing being in the Finals, i want it again and i feel like that’s more achievable with Klay in the roster. People keep comparing him to the player he WAS but forget that the player he IS right now is still very good! Two years ago i never thought i would see Kyrie Irving wearing a Dallas jersey, but then that happened. 2 days ago i never thought i would see Klay Thompson join the Mavs, but here we are! We’re witnessing big NBA events happening. What a time to be alive, what a time to be a Dallas fan 🔥

Those wide open missed 3s in the finals are painful to watch😢
  • The best catch and shoot guy ever is now on the Mavs! I love what they e done with this team. Coach just got to coach now

As a Mavericks fan, I was against the Mavericks going after Klay, with how he regressed on defense after his injuries and possibly having to pay Klay +20 million a year to him. Which was my main concern, but for 17 million a year!? Hell yes! I like how you compared Klay new contract being similar to Tim hardaway and Davis Bertans' contract because that's literally all the same contract, except Klay easily the best among the 3 and one of the best shooters in NBA history! I'm not that worried with Klay on the Mavericks because I assume the Mavericks don't expect Klay to be prime Klay, but to take over Tim hardaway role as a spot up shooter which he can easily do. And defensively is worrisome, but I think Mavericks has the system and players that can help Klay defensively. Remember, Klay is a smart defender as well, and Mavericks scheme defensively is funneling guys into the centers, which the Warriors did not have a quality rim protecter for quite some time now. And Klay will now have 2 very high quality rim protecters to funnel guys into. And Mavericks was a top defensive team not just because of the centers but because everyone was committed, and that includes Luka playing defense as well. So, for 17 mill, a year is a worthwhile gamble for the Mavericks, and I like that gamble.

Can’t believe the Mavs got Klay Thompson the splash brother. Mavs winning 3 straight championships

As a Mavs fan, I’d like to take a moment to recognize the man it took to make this deal happen and the painful existence he is about to endure. Josh Green, we will remember you 🙏

I change of scenery will be for Klay. To me this is the biggest sleeper signing of the offseason

The Luka bump effect with Klay is going to be very entertaining to watch. Luka makes every teammate better, especially with how many open looks he generates for his teammates and his incredible passing.

Klay don't need to create his own shots in Dallas. He needs to stay healthy. And for him to stay healthy and lessen the risk of his achilles or ACL acting up, he needs to mostly play as a spot up or catch and shoot shooter. He'll have all the space he needs with Luka and Kyrie. He'll also have some gas left on the defensive end.
  • @ABCurry30
45% from wide open 3s the last three years after his injury....that's scary
  • @adrianashby1033
The vacuum created on the perimeter by having Luka slow walking down the lane, now the paint vacuum having Klay on the perimeter, and Kyrie in the mid range. You only need two of them to get hot and EVERY defense in the team is going to have major issues covering them. Also having 2 of the best passers in the last 20 years twinned with arguably the best catch and shoot player EVER will be amazing if the chemistry works.

People say Klay is washed. The thing is, he doesn't need to be "peak Klay". He just needs to be better than THJ was to make the Mavs a legit threat. "Washed" or not, he's still better than THJ ever was, both fit and skillwise.
