  • Actually, I do wash my hands every time I come in the door. Even if all I did was take a walk. I've been doing it for years and years. I'm a big time hand washer.

This is not about being a germaphobe! This is basic hygiene. You wash your hands upon returning home. You change clothes and shower after flying. You change your clothes when you get home. Jenna is right!

When my brother and I were kids, my mom would have us change into our "play clothes" when we got home from school so we wouldn't ruin our school clothes. And I still do this, as soon as I walk in the door change out of my clothes to get into something comfortable.

It makes me so happy reading these comments about people washing hand when they come home.

Yes, I wash my hands every time I enter the house, even if I've just been getting something out of the car... always change clothes after work.

If I know I’m not going out again I change right into my pajamas. Doesn’t matter if it’s at noon or 10PM, I’m in ‘em.

I’m with Jenna on this. I wash my hands when I get home. I wash my hands if I touch on door handles in public places. I shower right away once I get home. Not only do I NOT sit on my bed with my outside clothes, but I also do NOT sit on my sofa until I have taken a shower.

I was my hands every time I walk-in the door and the “plane” clothes go straight into the laundry.

This is a common practice in the Philippines. There are 2 types of clothes depending on usage. Clothes you wear inside the home are called 'pambahay'. Pambahay are typically very comfortable, like what Westerners call loungewear. Clothes for going out or work are 'pang alis'. They're usually maintained better (ironed, dry cleaned, etc).

I have a friend who brought bedbugs home!! She was told by the professional exterminator that it is possible she could have brought them in from riding in a taxi, Uber or Lyft!! How many people ride in these vehicles all day??? You have no idea how clean anyone is or where they have been. By the way..at the very least you should wash your hands when you get home. You've touched the grocery carts, shopping baskets, door handles, card readers, ATMs, poles in subways and trains and shook hands with others. I'm seriously not a germophobe...I just use my head and try to keep my hands clean.

Always change your clothes and wash your hands after being out. Full stop! Basic cleanliness 😅
  • I've always been a hand washer and so I am 100% with Jenna on this topic. I wash my hand every single time I walk into my home, no matter what I have been doing or what I've touched. I also have indoor & outdoor clothes, also a "habit" that I've been exercising for the last 20+ years. What have we learned from going through the pandemic? My god, many people were sanitizing EVERY. SINGLE. THING. So why go back to old habits when you know how easily and quickly germs spread?? Anyway, good luck out there everyone and do your best 😄
  • @WondrousWoman
I absolutely agree with Jenna. I always wash my hands and change my clothes after being out. The clothes are definitely going in to the washer if I’m coming home after an air flight travel.

I am a housekeeper so every day I change my clothes. Always wash my hands after entering my home. Shower after all outdoor errands subway ride, grocery store, run, etc. Outdoor clothes must be changes after a shower. Never sits on my couch with your subway clothes and yes, clean my couch, bathroom after guest leaves my home.

Take off your shoes, wash your hands, change your clothes if you r been sitting on shared public surfaces. Use hand sanitizer when you’re out, if you can’t wash your hands right away. I followed these rules & never had Covid.
  • I am a former nurse, and was taught in nursing school to always change when you get home and never go anywhere in my work clothes. Just think about the antibiotic resistant bacteria in a hospital and care center. You don't want to take that into a grocery store or other public area.

I grew up in poverty we played in the city dump. We were exposed to so many germs because both my parents were alcoholics. They let us go everywhere unsupervised we went to other towns on our bicycles for the day. No one said a thing did we have a great time, of course did we bring home germs more than we know we probably will glow in the dark someday for the things we did And the germs we brought home!! But let me tell you something before you judge we were exposed to everything and I’ve had the flu one time in my life once back in 94 I was 34 years old .. have all my vaccines from childhood. I have had the chickenpox, but so did all three of my brothers and sisters at the same time.. I don’t have the flu every year I don’t get cold every year. I have no allergies to speak of once in a while in the spring I will get hit with hayfever because of all the blooming flowers but not every year I have three pets two dogs, one cat I’m not allergic to any of them. I have no food allergies that I know of I’m 63 and I’m fairly healthy being exposed to germs is not a bad thing especially when you’re young at least for me it hasn’t done horrible things and yes I do wash my hands when I come in but no I’m not worried about it to as long as you take the basic precautions when you come home

I am high risk and severely immunocompromised. I never wear my shoes in my home unless they’ve been cleaned. I wipe down my phone with alcohol prep. I take my clothes off and go straight to the shower. I wash my hands a hundred times a day. I also use hand sanitizer if washing isn’t available. Germs can be deadly for some.
