I had friends from Ventura that were staying in Kalapana back in '85 or '86 when Kilauea first started coming back to life. They witnessed some of the biggest eruptions, they saw burning rocks the size of small houses being tossed in the air like pebbles. Soon after, Kalapana was gone.

Not my field, not something that I've been terribly interested in before. Your very clear and understandable style gives me lots of information with no hyperbole or click bait. Subscribed and slowly going through your back catalog. Thank you for sharing this knowledge and expertise with us.

I'm glad that you know your way around the USGS site. I tried to find the live webcams of Kīlauea and just bounced around a whole lot for 5-10 minutes! Sheesh! Thanks for the update, as always. Good to have a Geologist to interpret the data and likely scenarios.

Sad to hear the crater road closed. It’s such an amazing drive down to the ocean! Thanks for the update!

Since I live here I visit the HVO webpage every day,. Thank you for making the more technical stuff understandable. Absolutely no felt quakes yet, but there's usually one in the 4-5 Ricther scale that'll happen before or not too long after an eruption.
