One hardbody lure, many bonito - Sydney ledge - Bugsy Fishing Ep 43 4K

Published 2024-06-15
In Episode 43 Bugsy takes us spinning on a Sydney ledge targeting pelagic fish. This time of year the bonito are plentiful and good size. Bugsy is using a hardbody lure which works well on bonito and other pelagic fish. Rock fishing is very dangerous. These open ocean rock ledges are for highly experienced anglers only and even then they are treacherous. If you are heading out fishing, stay safe. Wear a lifejacket, appropriate footwear (including rock spikes / cleats) and light clothing you can swim in. Fish with friends and look out for each other.

Nice little window. I've found sometimes you get a 20 min window right at the top of the tide in rough swells. You only get a VERY small window and you have to be read with your watch looking at the time. When it's over the tide dropping will bring the swell right back with a vengeance.

Can I ask if there are places to do this on the northern beaches? I don't live in Sydney but my best friend is in Hornsby and I spend some time up there sometimes, would love to go chase some bonito, just looks like you need a nice ledge though and deep water?
