Why is the North Star Always in the Same Place?

Fun Fact: The North Star was first catalogued in the year 169 AD, but because the Earth precesses around its axis over long periods of time, it couldn't be used as a pole star for navigation to the North until around 1200 AD.

But the galaxy drifts across space so how is the North Star still in the same place
-
Why do we see the same stars and constellations every night if we are rotating and revolving?
-
I'm guessing because the truth is we live on a non rotational plane.
-
How are all the stars in our visible view been the same for thousands of years when apparently they are all expanding with the universe away from each other?
-
Why the stars never changed position in 1000's years , if earth and the solar system is moving with 720.000 km/h in the Milky Way galaxy? That's 17.280.000 km/d.. The stars should be laying differently every few days, even if it's a little, but they don't. That's just not possible.

Or the Earth is flat ... would that be a more simplified theory? JS

Then why it’s in the same spot if the earth rotate around the sun!
-
Why do we see mercury at night when it supposed to be between earth and the sun?with our back to the sun which is night our back should be to mercury also but there it is every night.simple stuff

Great explanation
-
He makes sense about the "spinning", but what he fails to take into account is that we are "spinning & rotating around the sun". considering that, there is no way in hell we are spinning and rotating around the sun, so I'd love to know wtf is really going on because this vid is a "half explanation" that doesn't add up to anything

This was a nice explanation. But does not take into consideration the practicality of the heliocentric model. The heliocentric states we orbit the sun and are moving on a forward trajectory through space. How can it still be aligned when the earths orbit is 940 million km AND we are moving forward?

QUESTION why did I always see venus the brightest star in one spot for decades. Now it's moved 180 degrees. Why?
-
Great video. Explained really well with visual help.

Love the new intro and outro. On the shoulders of Ben!
-
why is the north poly always pointing to the north star throughout the year.. there should be a slight change of location since we revolve around the sun..
-
Does it mean the countries under the globe see a different set of stars and constellation? And I don't see how people under the globe can see the north star?
-
Yeah but the earth move around the sun so how we can this the north star in winter and summer too ??
-
Thank you! Really informative 👍

I would like to know why none of the Stars seem to change as we approach them. My grandfather was shown the North Star by his grandfather by my estimation at 11 million miles per day that we travel towards the Sun when I show my grandson the North Star we will be almost 1 trillion miles closer to the North Star then when my great grandfather showed my grandfather. Certainly some of the Stars should have changed in appearance. Are we really so far away that you can claim nothing would change having moved a trillion miles closer to them

Hilarious video but min 1:45 is the funniest part: "You can never see the north star from the southern hemisphere. It's actually just a HAPPY COINCIDENCE that there's a close enough and bright enough star that lines up so closely with the axis in the north." 🤣 Oh okay, I got it - you mean this is just like the COINCIDENCE that the moon is the same size as the sun? Or the COINCIDENCE that we only see one face of the moon?
