Valerie is one of the most under rated singers of our time, but then again, The Three Degrees NEVER got the attention they deserved in the states....ROCK ON, VALERIE, we love you!!

Happy 50th Anniversary Miss Val! I remember hearing the long version of "Maybe" on Hal Jackson's Sunday classics for the first time and when they said it was the Three Degrees, after only really knowing "When will I see you again", I became a bigger fan!

What a lovely lady Valerie is! I met in her in person in San Francisco a few years ago and she was divine. Love the new grouping too!
  • 💕💕 It's been said that when it comes to producing good food or good music, you're never appreciated at home the way you are overseas. There's alot of truth to that. But that's the nature of the larger mainstream for you. However, I don't question for a millisecond the love that those of us have for Soul music here in America. And in the case of Valerie & the Three Degrees, they are a multi-chart, multi-platinum, international success. Their music has always played well on any Easy Listening, Soft Rock, or Eclectic/ Mix radio station, & always will... And there are so many others, not just the Three Degrees: A Taste of Honey, Yvonne Elleman, Rita Coolidge, The Supremes, Freda Payne, Etta James, Jodie Watley (originally with Howard Hewitt & Shalamar), Patrice Rushen, Donna Summer, Sadé, Annie Lennox, Anita Baker... the list goes on. As 70's children, me & my friends we were thrilled to watch them perform. These women were making it & we were delighted to see them succeed because they deserved it. Not only because they deserved it, but also because they had (& still have) C L A S S The 70's are our time & 70's music represents us as a generation. There are millions of us, so the best of the 70's live on because WE ARE THE 70's. No doubt you appreciate that, too. But remember: you & me, WE ARE the 70's
  • Valerie when I ran into you in downtown Boston, you told me that you were going to be filling in for some one who left the 3 Degrees, look how long the fill in lasted. Your beautiful, great job girl.
  • The first real band I sang in was a trio, singing “When Will I See You Again”. Val reminds me of me back then. She was and is incredible❣️
