I can't believe you didn't include the Strid at Bolton Abbey, Yorkshire, England. It's got a 100% mortality rate. Nobody who's ever gone into it has ever survived. It looks like an innocent little stream, maybe 6' wide at its narrowest, so people dare themselves to jump over it. Heck, I wouldn't go within 10' of it, in case the rocks and moss are too slippery.

I live near a dangerous river too. The New River. There is a stretch near me that has an odd make up. The depth is 5 feet until you reach the county line of Pulaski. Then the depth shoots to 110 feet with undertow currents. Numerous people have perished due to that. They assumed it was shallow ALL the way across and tried to wade over only to get pulled under.

I dont know what scarier, being stuck in a cave system above water, or being trapped in a cave system under water.

If my feet can't touch the ground I'm definitely not swimming in it
  • I absolutely adore your videos! I love everything: the content, the little animations (especially the main little dude with the big eyes... he's so cute!), and the funny comments you make are always well-timed and add to it...not everyone can do that without it being distracting or obnoxious. Keep up the awesomeness! 👍👏😎

15:50 Those whirlpools may also be the inspiration behind the Whirl islands in Pokemon's Johto region where you have to get past them in order to catch Lugia. A sea-dragon like legendary pokemon.

I’m so glad that poor dog was rescued! Poor thing must have been utterly exhausted after paddling for 9 days straight.

"Natron" is the french, english and german word for "Sodium." Natrium" is the original name for sodium on the periodic table. Later, it was changed to sodium.

Naruto Whirlpools - another anime/game inspiration: in Pokemon Gold/Silver set in the Johto (which is really based on the Kansai region of Japan) in which the "whirlpools" are found - they are placed between (Asagi) Olivine City and (Tamba) Cianwood City. These locations roughly correspond to the real locations of Kobe and Iwashima. Whereabout the broader area of the whirlpools are to be found!

Wow this is one of my new favorites channels now. Love your sense of humor too!
  • Absolutely fascinating as always 😊 I used to live near the Derbyshire one, I didn't know they'd tried dying it black, such a crazy method of trying to stop people going in it 😮 Most of these places looked really gorgeous, looks most definitely can be deceiving 😮 Fabulous video, thank you 😊

This was an AMAZING video. I want more! I was so bummed when it ended.
  • @kiharaploom
You almost murdered me brutally with the dog story… I was absolutely stunned that they saved him and I threw a party because of it. Scared me to death!!!
  • If you make a part two can you include the underwater volcano Torfajokull in Iceland? 🇮🇸
  • @West_Coast
Awesome content. Thanks for the upload.

14:34 Reminds me of this lake in Lakey, Texas. It has the Frio River go through there. I had been going since I was 5. Anyway, first time I had gone to the Frio River, I was 7. I was playing in this lake that was near some pipes. However, at the time, what I didn't know was a few years ago that a 6 year old boy, a boy my age, and a dog had gotten sucked into the pipes. The six year old had drowned, 7 year old made it out in time, and so did the dog. Luckily, some guy knew about it, and got me out in time. If a had drifted a few inches more, I probably wouldn't be here. Today they have a sign that says 'STAY AWAY FROM THE PIPES'. One year, when I was with my sister and mother waiting for someone to arrive and go back to camp, I saw a small whirlpool. Let's just say, I gave it a wide berth.

I still remember going to the prismatic springs as a child with thousands of other tourists there. What scared me is that at some points there aren’t even guardrails or fences along the boardwalk
