A friend of mine picked up this 1955 Plymouth Plaza Suburban station wagon locally last winter and I was able to make a deal to purchase it from him to attempt to get it running for the first time since 1972. It started life as a vehicle for the Air Force in Grand Forks, ND and was traded in to a dealer in Cooperstown, ND. From there it went to life on a farm pulling a hay wagon until the clutch burned out in the early 1970s where it rested until December 2023. Let's see if we can get this thing to breath fire once again! If you'd like to add this vehicle to your fleet it can be yours in the as shown condition (No title) for the low, low price of only $2,500 USD! As always, thanks for watching!

  • One good thing about the "Older" engines and engine compartments, is you don't have to spend half a day removing crap just to see the engine.

Duff soooo Majestic lying in the sun with his new doo and working on his tan!!!!😅😅😅
  • On a more serious note , I had two Plymouths , A 54 no name flat six that was indestructible , the things I did to that car , I'm ashamed of . A 66 savoy , green and white flat six that was like brand new , I paid $25. oo for it and drove it into the ground . Both cars owed me nothing and lasted longer than they should . Oh the days of wine and roses ( NOT ) . That station wagon will make somebody a believer in the days when things cost a whole lot less and were built to last forever . Thanks for the memories , I'm going to be eighty next year , Ive seen a few things , more to come in future episodes , Stuart in Canada ..

You could see Mojo smiling when it fired up. That's proof that it never gets old. Resurrecting. These old relics😊
  • @JohnSmith-is8nq
ALL the old wagons absolutely need to be saved. They look so, so good!
  • @Nza420
That plug in the head Is supposed to be there. My assumption is that it is for setting the engine at TDC. It’s what I used it for, anyway on my 49
  • Relentless effort and modesty are truly commendable. Well done.
  • @craigbowley6783
I like that you pressure washed the car first. It makes it a whole lot easier to see what you're doing and what you're pointing at. And All that.👍

Canadian law is the reason for the Acadian Pontiac being a rebranding Chevy Nova. If the car was made in Canada and sold in Canada it had to be rebranded from the cars to be sold in the US.

I love these old L head 6"s You can still buy every part for these engines . Even HP parts such as cams, heads, double and triple carb intakes. split headers to make them a true duel exhaust etc. They are fun and simple to build."You should give this one a try" .

Mr. Mortske you made my day! Greetings from Italy
  • @johndonlon1611
This would make a terrific addition to any military vehicle collection. Yes, it needs work. But it's all there, you know what it needs and you saved it from further decay and the crusher. Thanks for sharing. Yes, it is worth the effort. Press on!!
  • Was missing the Mortske Mondays.....BUT there's been a lot of content lately!

I like this old Plymouth wagon, looking forward to seeing it back on the road.

Too cool! Back in the day my big brother had a 55 Plymouth! That car had a lot of low end grunt & my bro pulled a lot of cars out of ditches & snowbanks. We’re talking upper Michigan averaging 300 plus inches of snow! Would be cool to see an early hemi from hot heads with a 4 speed & positrack rear. All I can afford to do is dream about hot rods & watch you give these old rods new life! Keep on having fun rebuilding these old hoop ties & I’ll have fun watching you build.
  • The Air Force Plaza Plymouth, this is just one of those sweet puppy dog eyes and ears cars for me. Yo just look at it and fall in love with the darn thang. Toss some new floors on it and run the buffer over the paint and you’ve got a nice patina cruiser here. Toss in a newer 275-300 hp v6 with a 5 or 6 speed and you’ve got a cool car here. Everyone always goes v8 but the plaza stripper needs to keep it six. This car is light enough that you get plenty of scat with a smaller motor. The steering linkage is one of the more unusual one I have seen. The trunnion bushing front end doesn’t bother me as it was a common design in this period. Ball joint was the new up and coming technology of the time.
  • @jmptaz
What is so cool they still make replacement floor pans for this wagon and it would be an awesome 12 valve swap
  • Hey.! My Mortske, my uncle is had 55 like that the first car I ever drov, and the second thing is I served in Air Force, and we had a
Plymouth plaza! 10 years ago I probably would’ve went after that car and completely restored it but, I am over that! I’ll watch you because you do this stuff I used do ! Keep put up with your long episodes and enjoy them! Also in the Air Force I had a 1961 Impala SS ( yes a SS), candy apple red on wjhite! Been to Oakes many times, my wife had relatives there!
