First... it's hard to believe anyone hasn't heard this.
-
Yacht Rock at its finest.
-
a classic

Chris won Grammys for his music. After ⛵️ Sailing, he had Ride like the wind. Classic 1979 music.

This song goes straight into my core, such a beautiful and laid back song. Christopher is an amazing artist, as mentioned already, won several Grammy's for his music, was a fantastic guitar player and wrote a number of songs for other artist, he was truly amazing and is not quite often overlooked, fortunately reaction videos are opening the eyes of many to his talents and, of course, how good music was and why we still listen to so much of it. Also, the genre of Yacht Rock runs from roughly the mid 70s to early - mid 80s and is more of a toned down, chilled and laid back contemporary rock, mostly with a wast coast sound of the time. Before the name Yacht Rock, which came about in the early 2000's, it was generally considered "Dad Rock" or contemporary rock. I really hope that you check out more of Christophers' music, you will not be disappointed!

Never heard of Yacht Rock...but I loved this since it was on the radio. This is also one of those albums where every song is good to great.
-
I love the way he builds tension and then pulls back. It's very much like the back and forth of a boat. Don't know if that was the intent lol

Rick Beato has a video with Cross talking about writing and recording this song. Michael McDonald did background vocals on so many albums back then, that there is an old SCTV sketch with Rick Moranis playing McDonald doing vocals on "Ride With The Wind" ( just look up "sctv michael mcdonald").

Yacht Rock doesn’t really have anything to do with boats. It’s a name given to soft rock of the 70s and early 80s that has a little R&B or jazz in it that gives it that smooth sound. It’s a recent moniker that’s only about 15-20 years old I think. I think the name comes from some comedy videos called “Yacht Rock” that parodied the personalities from that genre, like Michael McDonald, Kenny Loggins, Hall & Oates, etc. They’re probably still on YouTube if you search for them.

Yacht Rock is a very new term- this used to be called Soft Rock. Chris is a big guy- looks like a linebacker. He has several Beautiful songs! Rife Like the Wind is with Michael McDonald!

Wetter than a Haddock's bathing costume.

I abhorred this when it came out, though a stripper did do an improv to it on the dance floor of my Dad's bar once upon a time. It's well done but not to my taste.
