Hi Sista. Ono oxtail soup used to be cheap at the bowling alley. I remember when oxtail was the cheapest meat you could buy. Maybe 59 cents a pound. Debbie and I just purchased a package with 3 Pieces in it, and it was $15.00. Cannot forget the star anise, it is a must in our opinion. God bless Misty & have a great weekend.

The portion at Super Pho is very generous. $23 for that is not bad, especially with 3 big chunks of oxtails in the soup. The ginger sauce sounds good! 😊

Aloha Misty!!! Both Oxtail soups look good. I like how you said Kim Chee II has authentic soup with a local flavor (paraphrasing) lol and that meet at 4:31 looked really good. I prefer the soup at Super Pho though because it comes with Pho and looks bigger but Im sure its more expensive than 19.90. Either way, cant go wrong with both places. Mahalo for another great review🤙

This is totally Korean style. I love it! Looks very similar to mine. My wife is Korean from Seoul. This is textbook Korean with a local flare as you said. Great share!

  • I love your videos misty. You show us all the good places to eat. Long time ago there used to be a little drive in place by the moanalua shopping center that had oxtail soup. I used to go there a lot.

I enjoyed your video! I now want to try these 2 places. An older relative once told me oxtails sold for just $0.40 cents a lb back in the 1960's! My fave has always been Kam Bowl. Lately I've made it at home. I tend to prefer won bok over mustard cabbage, I think it brings a pleasant sweetness to the broth. Mahalo!

Aloha Misty: This vlog takes me back to the days of enjoying my favorite soup at Ken Fong Restaurant on Hotel Street in the middle of Chinatown. This restaurant is gone but those great memories of the soup still remains. With a side of rice, it was great. The one from Super Pho looks great with he rice noodles, peanuts and cilantro. Price-wise, beef is now a once-in-a-while treat. I am looking forward to the next great, and “delicious” vlog! Best wishes and much 🧧, fellow 🐯! 🤙

Ox Tail soup?!?!??? Yes, my favorite soup...BUT I need the mustard cabbage, shitake, peanuts konyaku...then my chili pepper, sesame, ginger sauce and top it all off with a lot of cilantro!...A must have condiment!

Usually spend the money to buy this soup because I want it on the fly, but I should make it at home....so much cheaper and not really that hard to make. Thanks for the reviews. So many different versions to try. I'm usually an OG gal with peanuts, star anise, and tangerine peel.

Oh I used to get some rocking ox tail soup back years ago when I'd visit Indonesia with my then wife. It's been a while since I've had any. Ox tails are so good to add to a crock pot when I make Texas style beans.

A big steamy brothy bowl of oxtail soup sounds perfect for our chilly weather, looked so ono and soothing 👌. It's crazy how some foods have high prices now but used to be the "everyday man's food": oxtail soup, poi, kulolo, opihi....hoh, even vienna sausage (know you're not a fan but i've seen vienna sausage priced at $6 for 5 pieces when dining out 🤯?! I like ask the waitress if they can give kamaaina discount, c'mon i'm local you guys 🤙🤷‍♀️😅?!). But when you can't stand the craving anymore we'll go eat em anyway 🤙🤷‍♀️😅.

:) WOW! Thanks MUCH for sharing! Had NO IDEA it had become an EXPENSIVE Soup! I was SPOILED growing up in Vancouver / Chinatown, was $5 a BIG Bowl back in the day :( ALL the BEST and ENJOY! Cheers :)
