Man this felt like it unlocked something in my head. I picked up my bass immediately, restarted the video, and immediately got to practicing it
  • Dang, a teacher who's actually teaching instead of just showing off and making it impossible for us to follow along! Thank you!
  • @richbrownbass
Beginners, intermediate players, and pros. There's something in this video for all of you. I hope it helps. Thanks for watching!🙏🏾❤

I’ve played guitar for several decades, but I’m pretty new to learning bass. I ‘knew’ this stuff already, but you have a wonderful way of explaining it (and I always look for better ways of understanding theory)…I feel like I ‘know’ it a bit better now. You have an incredible way of speaking and teaching.
  • @anelliephant658
the way you tied in the music theory in this video is wonderful. as a beginner bassist, i thank you
  • @Eurostep500
Sir, you are a treasure! Thank you so much for these wonderfully helpful videos. I’m a beginner bassist but you help me a lot.
  • "Saan ka noong naghahanap ako ng makakaturo sa akin ng Bass?" That's Filipino for "Where were you when I'm looking for a Bass Teacher?" Love this vid. And I'm sure I'll be scanning your channel for more.❤❤
  • @RC32Smiths01
Appreciate the smooth and fundamental teaching. Scales of all kinds and varieties are absolutely essential to building music and melodies. Cheers.

Nicely demonstrated Rich. I think it's at this point when folks learning to play have a light bulb moment on music theory. It's like the first turn of the key that unlocks the magic box. When you quickly realise that this relationship happens all over the neck, it's a time of great advances in understanding the fretboard.

This is exactly what I was looking for, No over the top goofy youtube personality, no ridiculous editing and not making the video about yourself. Right to the point, very informative and simple to understand. Thanks man I really appreciate it, I'm coming from a drumming and synthesizer background and I want to pick up bass next, The way you've explained how scales work on the bass made a lot of sense to me. I'm going to be coming back to this video to practice. much appreciated
  • @seed2338

I never really check out stuff like this because I've played SOO long but I know NOTHING about scales, reading, etcetera. GRRREAT VIDEO! Thanks Rich.
  • I just want to say you are a great teacher. Your explanations are so easy to understand. I’m just starting on the bass and you make it encouraging for people to learn.
  • @RuudJeursen
