“I've always missed out when I was a kid” - CONVERSATIONS WITH JEN: FT ADAM

Published 2022-03-03
Adam and I have pretty much grown up together in the hospital setting. We were blood transfusion buddy's as young teenagers but life happened and we tend to only see each other in passing at the hospital if our appointments are on the same day or if we happen to be hospital inpatients at the same time. It was important for me to get a male perspective of what it's like living with sickle cell and I hope more men will be willing to speak openly about sickle cell in the years to come.

Great video and conversation. I'm a Sickle Cell Warrior with SB+. Priapism SUCKS!!! lol AR the Prophet made a very detail video documenting his experience with it and how it's treated in the hospital its on YouTube. My experience is it usually happens at night while just laying down or sleeping. It happens when my lower body is having trouble with circulation. It's painful with like a burning/numbing feeling(hard to explain) and the longer the blood is stuck the worst it gets. The way I handle it is by getting my blood to circulate by having sex with also messages it and helps the blood move, exercises like squats and jumping jacks and a heating pad.
