My first RC kit, got it when I was twelve. And it also brought me back to the hobby 3 years ago when I restored & upgraded it, so only love for the Blazing Star!

This ran for more than 1 year. This kit was available in Australia in the mid 2000’s. I have built many of these for my customers as the RTR era hadn’t begun yet and it was cheap.

That's a tough one, there's no over spray film over the body and wing!!!
  • @deanlewis1728
I acquired a Blazing Star a few years ago converted it into a Terra Conqueror couldn’t resist 😅 ha ha kept the box wheels tyres decals for another project lovely box art 👍🏽

I picked one up for cheap, never ran but was assembled and painted but has Avante decals. It looks ok. I run my cars a lot and soon started to find the weak spots with the worst offender being the front shock tower which when it breaks it takes to top of the front gearbox with it too. Over all a nice buggy still bit it can not compete with the Baja Champ for durability. Those interest drive axles are complete garbage, the plastic will break off the ends. Both the Blazing star and the Baja champ had them and they both broke them too. Keep up the good work!

Had lots of fun with mine back in the day and eventually changed it into a Top Force. Think I still have all the parts needed to change it back.

I'm sorry I didn't listen that's a vintage kit 26 years old I guess all the bodies were shipped that way!! Great video
  • @Hamish1968
I always thought this looked cheap with the (I think) Celica wheels and high-profile tyres. They seemed to be in the shops forever so maybe I wasn’t the only one… I think we all have piles of those old 3-speed MSCs 😂 Thanks for another interesting video!

Those gears look as soft as me watching a old tamyia being opened
  • @mikerider1237
Wow, 26yrs old? I still have mine but I painted it metallic green.
  • I do quite like the Blazing Star, it's a good looking buggy. Oh, and it's Humvee and not Hummer, Humvee is the military version and Hummer is the awful civilian version. I have to say the Humvee is my favourite out of all of those DF-01 cars.
  • @BazFairbrother
Those tyres first appeared in 1994 on the CC-01 mitsubishi pajero but had BF Goodrich Sidewall writing on them. The originals were quite a soft compound with reasonable grip. This is a kit i always fancied getting but never got round to it. Had the original manta ray though so close enough and now have a top force Evo in the collection 👍🏼

Hi, nice one. You sure it's supposed to have the mechanical speed controller ? No trace of this in the manual, nor in official pictures. Maybe a little mixup with the Terra Conqueror who has the MSC (while sporting a Dynatech 01R). But that for sure will add a vintage touch to it 😊 Enjoy the build and take care 🤝
  • @IntegraDIY
You have the whole collection of that chassis, but you are not keeping the rare uncommon one? That thing is so cool!
  • @paulrobinson9355
When you refer to 1997 cars as vintage makes me feel really old!! At least the presentation looks up todate so some saving grace here!!
  • @lo2713
Nice one Gav, its allways nice to find these kits that go under the radar, but you didnt explain the smell on opening the box ? Did it smell of the 90’s or was it just musky 😁
