Richard Boone was an outstanding actor and agreed to extend Have Gun Will Travel in a deal with CBS to let him do a subsequent reparatory theatre program called "Richard Boone Theater" that did not click. After that I think he pretty much gave up and consigned himself to potboiler films. He got heavy; thus the pancho and acting just became a means to sustain his very comfortable life in Hawaii.
