Repotting Two Precious Orchids

Published 2024-06-14
I hope I haven't left this too late - torn between getting on with it earlier in the year or waiting for the new growths to start to be assured of new roots.
As always, thanks for watching.

  • Thanks for another terrific presentation Roger. Do hope you've saved those gorgeous orchids.
  • Very clever stacking with taping the stack to the outside of the pot. I will need to remember that.
  • Thanks for another informative video Roger. I only have like four orchids in my kitchen and bathroom windows. However what I’ve learned from your videos make me feel like a professional grower. Seeing this video helped me diagnose the problem with my nobile I recently repotted. I’ve since downsized on the pot and looking forward to good results Thanks again

Excellent presentation. In my experience if the potted odont can stand by itself (no falling over without added weight) then the pot I have chosen is too large. I've taken to purchasing oversized ceramic mugs in charity shops in which to place the pots. As a bonus, the mug handles make it easier to move the plants.

Hi Roger, thank you as I have learnt more about the benefits of perlite thanks to you. 🇦🇺🇦🇺🌏🌏

Very interesting video. Look forward to follow-ups on theses.

Your self reflection is very well, Roger. We are able to make mistakes but we can learn from it... Let's see what the next season will bring. 💪💪💪

Thanks Roger. This is packed full of very useful information.

Hi, Roger! Thank you for this very informative and helpful video. I remember when you bought those plants. The blooms are awfully pretty! The repot will help them recover. Fingers crossed!🌸
  • I am always impressed with your ability to verbalize what you view as the problem as well as your explanation of how you are potting.

Thank you so much for this video, I have been rather blasé with pot size, will now pay much closer attention to that as an indicator when I see some of mine struggling!

I've seen Jim divide and pot up Odonts 😁it's almost criminal. The wetter an orchid needs to be the greater the balancing act it becomes. I rather spray an extra bit then use moss when I pot up plants

How cold are you able to keep these? In my experience, whatever you do right with Odontoglossums won't matter if you keep them too hot. If you've got a shaded spot outside, they might even like it there until start/mid October.

Great lesson. I have lost a few plants which I have a feeling was because pot was too big.
