Published 2024-07-25
This time on River Hunters, presenter and wild swimming loving Rick Edwards and real-life river hunter Beau Ouimette, take on the vast River Trent, following in the bloody footsteps of the Vikings as they invaded ninth-century Britain. In the first ever archaeological river search of key Viking sites, they’ll be hunting for relics of Chief Ivar the Boneless and the Great Heathen Army as they conquered the Anglo-Saxon Kings of England.

Talking Vikings and seeing nuclear power plant stacks in the background give the scene interesting perspective.
  • Great to see the Chigg in famous locations in England again! Great finds! I never knew that Horned Viking Helmets were a Cinematic invention! That makes sense that real Viking Helmets were plain, if "Horned" the enemy could "Grab you by the Horns" and have the upper hand!

That spike you found looks like an old cribbing spike. Cribbing spikes were used to hold large pieces of wood together. That spike is probably all that's left of an old dock.

Very enjoyable video. Information on the Lost Ship of the Desert, contained at the San Bernadino City Library here in Southern California, mentioned that the inhabitants of Tiburon Island in Mexico, had a story of a large boat that arrived there with men with blonde hair and one woman with red hair. They hunted with spear, and bow and arrow , then left, never to be seen again. To find something from our Viking ancestors would be be thrilling. . Wishing you good hunting.

This show is becoming one of my favorites to watch. But if I may suggest that you get yourself the Holy Moly magnet from Bondi Treasure Hunter. You will be able to pick up alot more stuff than what you did get. Just an idea. Thanks for sharing

A 12v Hookah would be great for doing this work. There are also box scopes that can be used from the surface for viewing the shallows to help identify.
