CINQUE TERRE TRAVEL GUIDE 2019: Monterosso, Manarola, Riomaggiore, Vernazza, Corniglia

Published 2018-07-22
The best CINQUE TERRE Travel Guide for 2019: Visit Monterosso, Manarola, Riomaggiore, Vernazza & Corniglia. We did all five villages in 48 hours and each village offers a different experience. Please share your experience and tips below for other to read. Our top tips for your visit:

1. VALIDATE YOUR TRAIN TICKET: If you don't validate your ticket in the green machines then you risk being fined €50 (which we did - gutted).

2. CARRY CASH: Many places are cash only, so don't forget to carry some with you.

3. PREPARE FOR STAIRS: We were surprised by the amount of stairs and uphill climbs there were. For those with mobility issues I would recommend Monterosso and Vernazza.

4. HIKING MUST KNOWS: Planning to hike? There are lots of hikes in the Cinque Terre national park, you will have to pay to walk some of the routes (but if you bought a day train ticket then it's included). The terrain does require hiking boots and be sure to take plenty of water and sunscreen. Also the coastal walk through all five towns is no longer fully accessible. Due to a landslide you can only do a few of the routes, we did Corniglia to Vernazza and then to Monterosso.

5. NO DRONE ZONE: Drones are now banned in Cinque Terre and the villagers will approach you if you attempt to fly one.

========= MY FILMING EQUIPMENT =============

My newest toy, and new love of my life is my DRONE geni.us/BoP0Us I highly recommend the 'fly more' package, I didn't go for it and then went back to buy more batteries because flight time of the standard package just isn't enough.

For steady shots I use my GoPro 5 geni.us/adventurecam5 along with the KARMA GRIP: geni.us/SteadyShot

My main camera for nice looking shots is a Canon 70D: geni.us/AnnasMainCamera And never underestimate the difference it makes to get a good quality SD CARD: amzn.to/2lV3UJu
Also sound on the Canon is not good enough for video so I use the SHURE MIC: geni.us/AnnasShureMic this is the best thing I ever bought.

When vlogging I need an easy to carry, ready to go camera and so I have a specific VLOGGING CAMERA: geni.us/4Wxbl6y

And finally for editing I use Final Cut Pro X on my

Just a different tip- You can travel by car to any of them. There are roads. They just don’t encourage it as it’s a lot for the infrastructure. Riomaggiore is my home away from home. :) There’s also a free beach in Monterosso but the water quality isn’t the best. It’s fine to relax though. Price for the chairs and what else you get is worth it. G is silent in Corniglia. ;) You can take a shuttle up to it. You don’t have to walk the stairs. The shuttle stop is right outside of the train station. Vernazza crowds are insane during the day. Amazing early and in evening. Back street are great at any time. Corniglia is the middle of the CT and only one not on the sea, manarola and Rio are the best for sunsets. @cinqueterreinsider is a great resource for Cinque Terre.
  • Thank you Anna for the video and sharing your experience in Italy with us😃.

Superbe vidéo... Merci pour ces belles images de ce magnifique endroit.
  • My wife and I are going there in 2 weeks and am so excited! Kudo's to Anna for conquering the stairs while pregnant. Fantastic video with audio descriptions.

Love Cinque Terre! We visited all the villages and had one of the best seafood pasta in Manarola!
  • :-) great footage! You two are so nice and we found out that even Nick showed a good, clear talent in telling about places. Have a nice day :-)

I loved your video, I will keep your advices for my trip in 3 days ! I can't wait to visit these beautiful cities !
  • Thank you so much for posting this. My husband and I are planning a trip and this was extremely helpful for us!

If you are a strong walker, you could visit all those places completely on foot. Maybe this is one of the reasons why Italians look so slim to foreign tourists. ^_^ Not all the beaches have paid admission fee, but most of them have it.
  • @MatHall
Great overview thanks!! We just booked to visit this September as s replacement for a long haul trip. Even more excited after watching your video!! Loved your relaxed styles. Subscribed :)
  • I was there so many times... It' so... strange to see you in Cinque Terre. Fantastic places. Next time Portofino.
  • @pile333
Surely your baby has breathed nice air, sunbathed and has taken good nutrients. Surely you're a tough walking mom, Anna. I don't think there are many 5 months pregnant moms walking on those paths and steps! Kudos.
  • @koreanature
My best friend, Great... We liked and enjoyed to the end. Thanks Have a happy day!
  • Hi! I'm from La Spezia, near Cinque Terre. I really hate to pay to stay to the beach... In Monterosso, there's a beach called "Spiaggia del Gigante" where You don't Need to pay, not all the beaches are payament! :)
