RIP, Rick Parfitt and Alan Lancster, These 4 guys were always in my opinion the REAL backbone of QUO. The frantic 4 will never be surpassed....

Honoured to of been there. Like so many other Quoheads, I never thought in my wildest dreams they would get together again and give us THE ORIGINAL FRANTIC FOUR.
  • @pezzyy99
The last gig of the original Status Quo, they will never come back, rip Rick!

I got to see the original Quo back in 1976 Rocking all over the World tour at Hammersmith. Some over 200 gigs later and never missing a tour. Great to be able to see Fantic Four on both tours after patching up the differences. So sad we have lost Alan and Rick. 1976 Live Album has to be one of the finest live recordings ever of ANY band. May the music still ripple in our ears for many years to come. Doug Yates

RIP Alan Lancaster! Another legend gone! This video shows how brilliant he was (even suffering with MS)… we won’t see his like again! 🎸

People who weren't around in the 70's don't realise how big this band were, bigger than Oasis were in the 90's, Quo were huge, and they were huge because of the sound these 4 guys created together, the songs they wrote and the gigs, which in those days were phenomenal. I think Rossi forgets that the band were only ever as big as they were because of the unique sound the 4 of them had. What I also don't get is he keeps saying he likes melody, he likes country music etc and not the 'hard stuff' well unless I'm mistaken Fine Fine Fine, And It's Better Now, Claudie (to name but a few) are pure Country songs but they were a perfect fit at the time and still could be now. Quo were a mix of that and a unique metronomic 12-bar blues and it was a perfect sound. Take one man out and it's gone, forget Lancaster, Quo were never the same after Coughlin left. Rossi needs to realise he would be nowhere without AL and JC, it would never have been Quo without them and he owes both of them and the fans for what they, and we, have given him since the 70's. If he wants to do more poppy/melodic stuff why can't he do it as a solo project? why piss on everyone else's chips? including may I add, his best mate Richard Parfitt? Rossi may not like to hear this but Quo (the current band) are now bordering on a laughing stock, it's cringeworthy watching some of the stuff they have produced in the last couple of decades (and I'm speaking as a fan of Marguerita Time which is a lovely little song). The gigs are dull, and everything is predictable, from the set list to the moves they make on stage. When I was watching Quo I used to see 4 guys getting into the sound, getting into the gig, but naturally, feeling the vibe and moving with it. Everything now is fake and choreographed, you don't get the impression any of it is natural anymore and I watched them for years and years hoping for something that was never ever going to come back. Remember what made the band great Francis, it wasn't you, it wasn't Rick and neither was it Alan or John, it was all of you, TOGETHER, a one-off combination that produces pure magic, whether you realise it or not, it's true.
  • So glad for Rick they made it together to play with the Original Quo (who to me is the only Quo). Rick enjoyed The frantic Tour very much !!!

You guys do not know how thank- and greatfull I am, because you were helping saving me live through singing the songs you Guys made. My heart is breaking because of it from happines and I am crying it out loud(!!!) to my Lord Jesus Christ to save you guys for Eternity. Really, all the songs you have been singing over the years (seventies/eighties/nineties and than I fell hard and didnt listen any more, because of my addiction with heroïne!) where PURE PROPHETIC! And now I am saved and everything is all right with me and now I am a preacher of the Word of God. But you guys saved many times my live, because when I wanted to put me out of mysery, I listened to you Stataus Quo, and I changed my mind. THANK YOU STATUS QUO, I LOVE YOU GUYS AND JESUS IS ALSO LOVING YOU. So please say a prayer again and tell Him about that strange guy from Holland who told you about what I am tellin'you now! Please do, okay! I am crying out loud for you guys by me Saviour to save YOU, Status Quo, my love and heart all over the years!!!
  • I can still remember being 17 and hearing this played on a dancette record player in the next room. Best guitar sound ever.
  • @LesMortsDansants
The look on John's face when his hi hat jams, could be straight from the 70s, classic mad turk!
