You should never jump a starter at the positive nut on a starter that will damage the nut with the load sparkling on it. Leave the positive connected an use the negative to make or break connection that way you will not damage the starter nut. 😮

You are a great recycler! Congratulations on a successful project. The first one will be a fine addition to someone else's lawn care fleet.
  • There now, that wasn't so hard! 👍👍👌👌🤣🤣 Nice work! Thanks for the video.
  • Okay. I've been working on small engines for over 30 years. Either no one is giving you good advice. Or you're not accepting it. When it comes to starters if it has a metal flywheel gear. The starter will always use a plastic gear. If it has a plastic gear on the flywheel. It will use a metal gear on the starter. That is the way all of them are made. Jumping cables are the fastest way to burn up a starter on anything including a car. They waste a lot of power. All you need is a good charge battery. An the older starter would have worked well. I hope you're not trying to mislead people. You do not sound like the kind of person that would do that. So I do wish you the best of luck. And truly hope you do not mind taking some friendly advice. From someone who knows. 💯.

The very first thing I do with any mower I get is spend 10 mins adjusting the valves. As well as check the valve travel to monitor for wear on camshaft lobes. Then I worry about carb and starting it.

Sorry to say, but you are just a beginning.Ask JamesCondon ,maybe he will teach you.

Take this guy and experience with a grain of salt. His work bench is his truck tailgate. The valves need to be adjusted every 250 hours on a Briggs and Stratton. They do not "always keep going out of adjustment." The starter back bolt can be accessed and removed and replaced, without "doing all kinds of things.".

looks like the problem was actually the valve adjustment. That's the first thing I check when the starter won't turn the engine.

I had the same problem with my Cub this past spring change the starter solonoid, the starter ( they both were probably fine,) and fix a flat on new tires. And found out the valves were out of adjustment and the battery was 6 years old about. I mean it ran fine last season when i put it back in the garage but would not start this spring or last fall to take care of the leaves didn't Start so i didn't mess with the snow blower for it. ( only paid 200 bucks for it it was used one time works perfectly) now i need to build a rear weight rack for it, it would also help the agro tires bite in better i had snow chains year round on it. My yard has 2 steep hills.

haha every dang time. when i see a seized engine, it always has fresh new unused oil on the dipstick.
  • @james35546
Hooking a good battery up to the battery cables would have been a good start
  • Try not to over heat the new starter proceedes to hold the cable on the starter another 5 mins 😂

That cup cadet lawn tractor sounds awesome and cuts the grass pretty good when the engine is not backfired 😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎
  • All you needed was to connect a good hot strong battery I've worked on them to much to know it needed a battery connection better than jumper cables good job tho
  • @iceberg2221
alot of it is because ur using such long cable to a battery not hooked up to mower pulls alot more amps
  • Так же на трактор установил косилку,скоро у нас сенокос,надо много накосить травы для корма коровам на зимний период
