Embellishing Acrylic Pearl Pour with Tanya Mundt's Glue Gun Technique | Fluid Art Therapy

Published 2022-09-20
Hello Everyone! Today I will be doing an embellishment on a pearl cell flip cup with negative space that I did in a previous video. I will link the video below. At the time I poured it I had different plans for it but didn't follow through and it left the piece feeling unfinished. After months of it sitting in a corner I finally decided to try something out that I had been seeing Tanya Mundt do on Facebook for some time but it was ‪@HeatherMaderArt‬ that turned us on to the secret of her embellishments...A HOT GLUE GUN! When I saw this technique it sparked some ideas in my brain for this piece so I decided I'd give it a whirl. Heather gives very detailed instructions on her channel and has now put out several videos featuring this idea. Head over to her channel for more info. It will be linked below. This is a really fun technique and wasn't too difficult! You know that this is art therapy for me and I hope it is for you as well.

If you would like to see how I mix these paints for pearl cells, I do have a paint mixing video below so please check it out if you are new to my channel and as always, if you have any questions please feel free to ask. I read and respond to every single comment.

I'm very excited to be teaching at the Fluid Art Experience again in Dallas, Texas November 17-19, 2022. You can get tickets & info by going to:

No silicone used for cells. It was all the layering of the paints that made those cool effects.

😢thanks for letting me know about this video. I actually seen it when you did it. I bought that same glue gun from Amazon but did not try it out right away. Naturally when I did, it did not worked that well and time passed that I could not get a refund. Now I am searching for another one that the glue comes out finer. This is amazing. ❤❤
  • Very beautiful!!, need lots of patience and a steady hand. 🙏🏼❤️
  • Hi, it's Tanya! You did an amazing job! Little tip to get the glue off the glass easier. Spray it with 70% rubbing alcohol and let it sit for a minute. Really helps it lift off the glass!

That was the perfect embellishment for your painting! I watched Heather do this technique and it looked very intriguing. It looks like cloisinea to me...very pretty! I love any embellishment that gives texture and depth. Your leaves have both in spades. I've been looking for something, some kind of subject to use the glue gun and create this look, but nothing has caught my eye yet. I'm writing you on my new tablet. I just now figured out how to watch and comment on your video😉. It's got so many bells and whistles, it took me two days just to figure out how to get to my YouTube page. I guess I'm in the technological challenged group now. Great video Tara! I was so glad to see you today...I was starting to get worried about you. Got to have my weekly Tara inspiration!😊🪷🪷🪷🪷🪷
  • Oh Tara!! This turned out so beautiful.... You have a lot of patience for sure.... It's really beautiful ❤️
  • It certainly does take a lot of patience using a glue gun. I watched numerous videos of AB Creative and finally recreated a gecko she did and that’s waiting to be given to my grandson as a gift. I’m such a perfectionist so it took quite some time. Like she did, I poured epoxy resin on just the gecko and it gave it a unique look. Her work is beautiful so check her out! Anyway, your embellishment turned out beautiful, Tara. I love it!

  • Beautiful! FYI, you can get gold hot glue. Just in case you were not aware.
  • @paulagoynes
