KSP: Fixing My Past Mistakes with an SSTO!

You may recall that I left a spent upper stage in low Kerbin orbit during the construction of my Minmus space station, after forgetting to add a probe core and reaction wheel to it. But, to my dismay, when I opened the tracking station, there was actually quite a few bits of debris littering my new save file. This needs fixing!

  • First time a human fixing his mistake a new high for humanity
  • It feels so weird seeing constant KSP 1 videos, I feel like it’s 2018 again 🥲

Could be fun to see you capture an asteroid again. Its been 7 years since you brought the "Magic Asteroid" down to Kerbal surface, so it must be about time for a new mission like this

As someone who never got KSP2, it's nice to see the KSP1 content coming back.
  • 10:04 i’ve never tried spinning, but that’s a good trick! (to those of you who don’t get it, it’s a Star Wars reference)
  • 6:18 Speaking of Porkjet. This is the same Person who also made quite a few stock parts, such as the MK2 parts, many aerodynamic parts and even the stock Shuttle engine
  • @Benchey
Matt you have to try out RSS since you've kind of beat pretty much everything in vanilla KSP and it would be really interesting to see how you would ace through that kind of field
  • Omg, that “one part to Duna” video sounds like SO MUCH FUN! I hope it’s possible to make (and not too frustrating to finish) in the future!
  • @TheHutchy01
The way that cuts off at the end is just perfect.

Fairing base plates are reentry survival artists, they're incredible! :D I don't even start minimalist missions. I've tried a couple of times and found the difficulty sucked all the fun out of it. I briefly found myself disappointed the magenta beam wasn't matched by a silly 60s sci-fi noise for the engine sound. ;) There would be no point to it, but this is the way my brain works. Planet Coaster 2, eh? I would watch more Planet Coaster, but my motion sickness inevitably makes itself felt. It's remarkable how well I get on with watching KSP, though it depends very much on the videographer. I'm just grateful for what I can watch. I don't think I'd even be able to edit my own build timelapses if I were creating videos.

Don't feel bad about failing to deorbit a second stage. The Ariane 6 also failed.
  • The problem with leaving things in suborbital trajectories is that unless you're in range of the spent booster for the game to think it should apply physics, the part will just be on rails - atmospheres be damned, only a direct ground/water impact will clean it up.
  • @Galexy_Al
Matt there is a thrust limiter on the eva pack to help with your duna mission, it will help with the very fine manoeuvres!

Matt you've got me into KSP yet again and finally I've started improving. a good few hours on a fresh science save and now I've been to and recovered from Duna for the first time! I've been stranding kerbals there for years. Love seeing you revisit the best sides of KSP and keeping this game alive.

oh my god just rediscovering this channel its been 3 years me and my grandad used to watch these love your vids you are the reason i started playing ksp
  • @newgirlde
I enjoyed this quite a bit more than your usual ones. I like seeing on-the-fly missions that I would also do in my own game. It's fun to see how someone with a lot more experience would accomplish it.

Btw, ReStock also changes how the parts work. VAOS made the “smallest” ssto that was super easy to fly with restock vs in stock that had the craft flipping over as ReStock reduces drag on the parts while also making them look better.
