It's really useful to watch a complete painting beginning to end, with explanations on everything you do, the reasoning behind it, the effect you expect it to have, etc. Rather than keeping it at a really high level like other channels, you dive into the actual brushtrokes, and the way the paint flows onto the canvas. This is a level of detail that is missing in almost every other art channel, and I really appreciate it.

I'm very interested in especially painting water. I'm a beginner so watching this tutorial was very very helpful for techniques, learning values. the layering involved and timing it could take to create a painting of any kind. I was getting very frustrated and annoyed and thought maybe painting was not for me and I needed to stick to my drawings. Thank you for recording this video! I can now confidently paint water or a landscape and actually anything I desire with practice. patience and most of all having fun doing it! AGAIN. THANK YOU SO MUCH!

First i know this is an old video but im glad i stumbled upon this piece. It was definitely a journey! Just want to say thank you for reminding me it’s ok to paint and repaint and fix and adjust. Sometimes I discourage myself after I’ve worked something that in the end is not what i wanted. I get tempted to want to scrap the whole thing or give up thinking that’s the best I can do. But you empowered me to not give up and rather, just have patience and keep adjusting if needed. I don’t have to just accept mediocrity but keep trying when needed. Excited to apply this lesson in my next piece. Thank you! ❤

Thank you Ryan for a wonderful journey through this beautiful lesson. As a beginner, I would stop at some mess I make through the process, but after looking through this lesson, I realize its part of the process and to move on to make it beautiful. Thanks a ton.
