Nothing better way to recoup from total knee surgery than to sit back & watch one of my favorite YouTube channels of which In The Woodyard is one of them. Usually the first I will watch when I get up. Keep up the super content Chris & have a wonderful
  • Good morning all! All valid, but you can't beat the beauty of stacked firewood.

Very good Chris. Agree with everything you say. I stack our wood because our woodyard is in our village. I do the bulk of the processing elsewhere and bring it to the yard to be stacked and dried. Then I load it and sell it. I like the idea of bins but by stacking it people like it. Around our village it is seen as a bit of a sculpture or art piece. If I ever end up with a woodyard out of town I will go to bins. Amen.

I can see you with a 2nd vocation stand up comic. You are a funny guy thanks for the humor 😄

Nice video. Three good reasons. Used to stack everything nicely in wood shack but now that it’s full. I resorted to your method after you convinced me it would dry anyway.

Awesome vid today Chris! 🔥💯👍. Great topic and the tour update around the woodyard!! It’s definitely the place to be!! Enjoy visiting the Woodyard everyday to see what you’re up to!! One of my very top favs on YouTube! See you soon! Andrew from NB :)
  • I like how you poke fun at some of the “aggravating comments” by sliding in some small jabs here and there. It makes me smile!! 😂 Do you ever have problems with mice bedding in the wood while it’s drying? Always a pleasure Mr. Chris!! Appreciate the info!

Nine hundred and ninety ninth 'thumbs up'. I love stacking my wood as I like to be creative - my logs are not all uniform shape and size and it's like making a giant 3-D jigsaw. Also, on occasions I've made patterns on the visible face, using wood of different colours and textures to make pretty shapes. I stack to keep it tidy, as I don't have the space to pile it up like you do. Also, yes, the exercise is good for me - I think I'll go and do some work now and WON'T watch another of your vids now - lol. Tomorrow, I will!!

I’m finally on some land and can pile my wood!👍 You’ve been an invaluable source of knowledge and inspiration. Thx
  • Bert got you to Farmer It. Wise decision. I try to handle my wood as little as possible, too. Nice kitties.
  • I always stacked my wood until I saw your pallet bins. I built mine and they work great. Man was I dumb to stack! Thanks Chris
  • Stacking bark down is a drying mode. Stacking bark up is a storing mode. I had 20m3 done in our summer cottage stacked bark down 1,5 years ago and now I took them home and stacked bark up. Because all of them couldn't fit in shed. This is very old way to handle firewood. In old days firewood was cut , split and stacked in forest during winter time. And bark down. Next summer they took firewood to home and stacked bark up. In April and May you got most of the water out this way.
  • Nice video Chris. You have demonstrated lots of ways to store/dry wood. My favorite is Bert’s little corn crib just because it looks cool and practical. Old Country architecture. GNI

G’morning Chris. I stack because of the Warden. She requires our wood to be on landscape timbers with T post ends. I remember your videos of stacking for HOURSSSS !! Great information ! Who is Rick ? GoodNightIrene
  • #4 Space availability. That’s my problem! I wish I could store in piles. I’m tired of stacking too! 😂 Take care Chris👍🏻👍🏻GNI

Chris, all great points. I remember way back when you would cut 1 day, split the next, and then finish on the 3rd day stacking. The test run of the first bin was shortly after you went to Bert’s if I recall correctly as well it was a suggestion from a subscriber. As a side note, my wife is in Hatfield blood line, her Great Grandma was a Hatfield. She sparked when you mentioned the Hatfield and McCoy’s. She enjoys your videos as much as I do. Good Night Irene 👍🏻👍🏻

well, if you are wrong Chris, i don't care, what you say sounds right to me and brightens my day. you make a lot of sense to me, thanks

I'm glad to see what I told you about not stacking several years ago has taken hold, but you have better reasons than I did! - The US Bureau of Weights and Measures established long ago the standards for cords and ricks, no "face cords", that's more recent, common usage. The Bureau has been eliminated in cost cutting gov't moves. The etymology of "face cords" is a whole 'nother subject.
