The fact he saw that humans were scum was basically his world falling as he loved humans and destroyed every evils for them in his time, he even made them independent from gods

Gilgamesh seems to be a very interesting character story-wise and a for versus Battle debates and most debates the first thing you have to establish for a character to be able to fight Gilgamesh is that they have to be able to hurt him and surprisingly there are a lot of characters who just can't even hurt him because of his special armor and on top of that he has every noble fantasm including ea which can bypass durability and his ability to be able to see the future and know what he needs to do with his eyes when he chooses to activate it he also has some ridiculous feats in fate extra CCC I've seen people argue that he's complex multiversal in that game or maybe even higher overall he's just a really powerful character and a really good for versus debates especially against characters who have similar stats to him.

Good video but the one critique I would have is the second half of the video regarding UBW Gilgamesh. The Grail did not change him, incarnating into a real flesh and blood body did. He explains in Fate/Extra that when he incarnates his personality changes to reflect the humanity of the time he is in. Also, he explains that even if he hates the current state of the world that he would not try to fix it as a spirit because spirits/servants are not permanent and their time has already ended, but incarnating would cause him to try and change humanity because he is no longer temporary. To put it in your own words as a spirit he is dreaming but incarnated he is awake. Also, he was not shocked or surprised by the nature of the grail because he already knew that humans were that bad and had already accepted that as their king. This is shown in the VN in his conversation with All the World's Evils and in fact, in UBW he essentially wants humanity to face their sins and for throughs who survive to become stronger after overcoming them proving their worth. This is a paraphrase of the conversation from the wiki, "It is normally impossible for correctness and affirmations to exist with the cursed vortex of hatred because all has determined that everything is ugly and hateful, so the words "yes" and "that is right" appearing within is an anomaly. It does not allow the existence of "entities", so such a thing should not be possible. It questions these affirmations, and gets a response. Gilgamesh, as the king, will acknowledge that the world was originally such a way, he will permit it to be so, and he will bear the burden of sin for the entire world. It then asks "what is a king?", causing a contradiction in that it admitted there was someone else within it."
  • This video was really well made. Gilgamesh is, without a doubt, my favorite character from Fate and one of my favorite fictional characters of all time. Like, his character made me want to go read the Epic of Gilgamesh. In my opinion, Gilgamesh is a great antagonist that absolutely deserves to up there with villains like Makishima from Psycho-Pass, and Johan Liebert From Monster as some of the best of all time. Before I watched or read any synopsis of Fate, I had heard about Gilgamesh. Although, admittedly, I was stupid and didn’t realize it was the same name as the King from Uruk, but I digress. When I first heard about him, my initial thoughts and predictions were that he was going to be stuck up, fuck boy asshole that thinks he’s all that and gets bodied immediately every time. Boy was I wrong. He’s arrogant and that’s all I got right. In my opinion, not only is Gilgamesh a highly entertaining character with great voice acting (both subbed and dubbed) and an instantly iconic design, but is also very well written and smartly executed. Not once, did I think Gilgamesh was out of character. Plus, let’s be honest, he easily has some of the best fights in the series.
  • The only character in all of anime that I can think of who is more prideful than Gilgamesh would be Father/The Dwarf in the Flask from Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood. "When you notice an insect on the ground, do you stop to consider it a fool? The life of an insect is so beneath you that it would be a waste of time to even consider judging it. That would be an accurate summation of my feelings towards you humans." Father sought to literally bring God down to Earth, absorb him, and become a perfect being. He thought himself able to acquire and control God. Even in defeat, he thought himself and his ideals to be superior to God's, that he should be above God's judgment. And that was AFTER he removed the sin of Pride from his soul.
  • I think proto represents the transition between the childish King into the Adult Tyrant I truly wander though were did the disconnect between the child King and the Adult Tyrant truly begin

Great video as always. I'm very excited to see more Fate videos from you. Gilgamesh is truly a goat. The only character I can think of who might be more prideful than him is Regulus Corneas from Re Zero
  • @Kos-288
you should do more fate videos they're rly good
  • @ironmonkey349
Well if you look at the epic of Gilgamesh, it makes sense. His best friend died, he then travelled the world to find the secret of immortality. Find it, beyond the world, from basically Noa just for it to be snatched by a snake (trickster). Goes back home with wisdom instead.
  • @Ymryrth
    That cosplay (WIP) looks awesome
  • @isharaven
Finally got around to being able to watch it and Gilgamesh is one of my favorite fate characters besides arjuna and karna
  • Great video! Really excited to see what else you do with Fate. There isn't enough good Fate analysis on YouTube, but this was one of the best I've seen.
  • @KingDaveth
Give me the armor, I need it...for...reasons.
  • honestly i think you missed a little of gil’s story while he did feel some agony from enkidu’s death it was actually the fact that his job/goal(even if it was from the gods) was to look over humanity and when his friend died he realized that he can die and would in his mind fail at a task given to him and accepted by him. it was actually after he lost the herb that he came to realize that even death was part of the human experience so he had to oversee even that part, also he went back to get the herb again just to have it in his treasury

This was a good video, before I had only watch UBW and I only saw Gilgamesh as nihlistic dick that claimed humanity was only evil despite the fact he'd been hiding in a church basement for a decade. I haven't watch many other shows from Fate, but seeing how Grand Order shows the other side of Gilgamesh has now started to make me appreciate both the Fate and the real Gilgamesh.
  • @prophet4722
Ayo why the hell does he need the grail to purge humanity. Ea : Am I a joke to you??
  • I have a reading Recommendation it's called the god of high school because good character analysis on the manhwa are basically non-existent
  • King of the golden heavens: " The world of mankind is a lie, give them fame you see how they easily Denny even their own bloodlines. It's funny, build them up...right when they become to comfortable on high...then you pull the floor from under them then they fall into hell fire literally. My favorite part is doing this to my own family the most before strangers. Mwa ha ha
  • Gil is the stongest in fate zero. the interesting part is there's another servant stronger than him in the coming Fate Strange Fate...
