ToyCat is the gold standard for in-game narration: he makes it fun, he makes it clear, he makes it snappy. Of course you have to be god-like at the game to keep it like this even when doing risky stuff.
  • Strip mining always worked for me. I have a few large chests full of Ancient Debris in my main survival world. Usually 10k blocks get me around 2 stacks of Ancient Debris (Y15)
  • Not just is mans giving up to date information, they are also playing on bedrock. You are a great individual.
  • I love how realistic minecraft is, making it difficult to find black things in the dark!
  • @Nyerguds
I don't know if this is the same in Bedrock edition, but in Java, putting a block in between you and the bed will shield you from most of the damage. It does require that you build a slightly higher tunnel to put it in.

With the end crystals, i imagine you can break the obsidian below first and then double the size of the explosion

I usually go at "0,13,0" and mine in every directions, then dig a hole each sides, every 10 blocks, then I am ready for bed mining. Afterwise, I can build some Ice roads, for fast traveling. I think not being able to stack beds is the biggest disadvantage.

I tend to use tnt. But to avoid some of the lava issues I dig a long tunnel first and then blow the tnt up on the way back. This means you can look at the area after the explosion and just not deal with it if there is no debris.

Tbh, I find bed-mining to be very enjoyable - to each their own I guess. Also whenever you find some debris, I would recommend mining a bit around it to make sure you got the entire ore vein.
  • @SwordTomato
The BEST way to do it is to mine a long tunnel on a chunk border then fill it with tnt (or one block apart) you get the stuff from the mining and the tnt chain. This is best period. Not necessarily the cheapest but the most efficient. Mining on a chunk border might not be necessary but when the tnt goes off it will expose part of each chunk, which using common sense will possibly have more debris.

The beds are really great for mining. The tunnels created are great for ice highways for transportation. Once you have a creeper farm and a bunch of sand, a flying machine with tnt is much more satisfying to use and doesn't leave as big a mess
  • I personally mine y=15 along the border, and then explode a bed at another border so it's a chunk corner, I found this method is very good and I found ancient debris a lot of times
  • @Nyerguds
Producing fire is not a drawback at all when mining for Netherite. It keeps the area lit up and prevents ghasts from spawning.
  • @mattguy1773
Game Theory Ancient Debris are remnants of nether reactor cores
  • Thank you for this!!! I've been terrified of mining for ancient debris because I thought I had to use the bed explosion trick & it SCARES me!!! I don't even like accidently hitting a lava flow!

I’m glad you said mining is still a valid way to do it. I find explosions so scary and hate dealing with them. Also (as you said) mining is just so much more fun to me because I can listen to audiobooks or toycat videos while I do it :) I’m sick of people judging me for not wanting to blow up my nether to look for ancient debris so thanks for not being one of those people. Explosions would need my full attention because I find them stressful. Plus XP is basically free and beds take up a lot of inventory space because they don’t stack. Also I hate automation in minecraft most of the time because it means I didn’t actually do the work for the thing if that makes any sense (plus redstone is mega confusing). In other words, mining is great for me (but if I’m ever exploding things in creative again sounds like end crystals are the way to go) Love your videos :)
  • Ancient debris spawns the most along chunk borders. Mine a 2x2 shaft, with a chunk border between the blocks. Definitely the fastest method. You can always backtrack with TNT along your tunnels to find more later, but I find tons without needing to waste time with explosives.
  • @centauria9122
I use an add on called More TNT, I can use a single colossal TNT and destroys netherrack within a 50 block radius, leaving the ancient debris intact. Then I can use a throwable TNT to destroy and obtain the ancient debris without a diamond pickaxe. 😊 I play on the PS4 btw.
  • @CobraRaptor
I find the best way to mine ancient debris is to cluster frack with about 4-6 TNT at a time down a tunnel just big enough for 1 player. Usually 15 or lower. Finds around a stack of ancient debris for 2 stacks of TNT
  • @Derekiel
Ive been using the wither to mine.. It started as a way to clear out my tunnels, but i already have 11 extra netherite suits in my survival world.
