  • Thank you for the information, I bought a mule at auction so meat buyer wouldn’t get her. She s just her...but whenever I’m working she ll stand by fence and nehhh at me, hoofs the fence like she wants to work. 5 years ago the neighbors 3 labs came down and started chasing my steers (6) she jumped cattle fence and ran those 3 dogs off. I named her Matilda, and she ll live here forever

I grew up next door to a pasture of working mules, they are beautiful animals, smart and I used to hand feed them our salad trimmings most evenings
  • I spent a summer learning how to drive mules. Best summer I ever had. Loved everything about those mules!

Thank you for your very well qualified observations about MULES. Most people who train horses only, need to do themselves a favor and take the time to learn about this incredible animal. I have trained Lions, Tigers, Jaguars, Elephants , and Chimps in a zoo for reasons of managing them for our safety and medical treatment.  I found that a mule has the same mindset as a Chimp.  The main thing I found was patents and respect for the animal goes a long way.
  • Mules are beautiful animals!!!! I hear that they are a lot of work to take care of. But they are sweet!!! I met some at a fair and they were just the cutest and sweetest animals. I learn something new every day! Thank you for showing us the differences between mules and horses. Your mules are absolutely beautiful!!!! I love their eyes!!!!
  • Great conversation about these lovely mules so dignified and genuinely insightful

This answered my question about mule temperament. I hear that mules have bad tempers, but I've often wondered if this comes from people who abuse horses and try that sort of behaviour with a mule. The fight vs flight behaviour you mentioned answered my question. My mum has donkeys and they're very gentle, but I certainly don't think they'd tolerate any mistreatment the way horses do. They won't do anything they don't want to. Once they escaped and I tried to drag them back to their field and they refused to budge. Eventually I had an idea of holding some of the spare electric fence wire between us and cornering them back into their field which worked well.

Your mules are gorgeous. I learned a lot about mules from listening to you. Thank you for sharing this good content. I first heard of "riding" a mule from a customer ( I was cutting his hair ). He said he goes riding up and down and all through the hills & mountains in SE TN. He was so nice to answer the many many questions I had for him. I could tell this man loved his mules from the way he spoke about them. My curiosity has never ceased since that day about 4 years ago. I remember feeling jealous that I do not have what that man has with these wondrous creatures. ❤️

Just happened upon your video and was instantly captivated by your insight into these animals! Thank you, I learned a lot tonight.
  • This is one of the best videos I have seen. Interesting, very informative. Great information! I am now considering a mule over a horse for my needs. Thank you
  • I don’t know anything about a mule but when I was a kid my grandfather had a mule and I would give this mule an apple everyday or something everyday before long when I would walk down a long road to the bus stop this mule would get out and go with me and when I got off the bus he was standing there waiting on me every single day . I didn’t have a dog but I guess I had a mule because he went everywhere on the farm I went

Know what I miss about the farm? Being taught. In cycles, like the seasons and overlaping reasons in the most magnificent respectful, knowingly way. It's a Hoot!

A lot of these come up at auction and at the rescue orginizations that are delightfully springing up. Thanks for sharing your wisdom. I hope more folks spend their time to listen. The risen Logos bless you.
