MSFS Random: My actual load screen...that's it, just watching a loadscreen

Published 2024-03-05
I talk for a few minutes as my MSFS loads, we discuss the meaning of life, I provide a therapy session. Check on my taxes, tell you a cool story bro, I drive a Mercedes EQB to go see a British Airways A380, then the game finally loads and I keep talking jibbersh. Hey, you clicked on it.

Only one time stamp of interest

I wonder what it's doing for all that time. Even if you had crazy amounts of system ram and VRAM 8 minutes is more than enough time to fill them several times over, so I guess it's unpacking stuff and putting it into some sort of scratch space? Maybe verifying files to make sure nothing is corrupted? I'd be curious to know, as it's a pretty absurd bootup time. They could at least make the loading screen something cool like a visual of an INS calibrating or something. Anyway, always appreciate a good shitpost, have a good one.

Assuming the addons are archived in some way where it's forced to load the entire thing to know what a thing is and how to use/present it. Then it follows that ~1TB / ~1.8GB/s is 9 minutes and change. It does make sense, assuming that's the reason.

Wow, that is slow. Mine loaded in 1:32 on a WDC SN750 1TB. What cpu did you bought? My Ryzen 5600X cpu is limiting my 4070S.
