A few things: 1) there is a mod to automatically turn keepInventory on: Dark's KeepInventory. 2) crouching when you chopped down a tree disabled the tree-chopper ability 3) in order to cook and eat the animals, you need meat hooks to hang them on and harvest their meat, or a spitroast on a campfire And 4) to make your life easier, I'd recommend installing JEI (Just Enough Items) so you can look up recipes to everything Now that that's out of the way, Great video man, keep it up! 👍

The command for keep inventory is /gamerule keepInventory true. But you have to have cheats enabled. Either while making the world OR starting a LAN multiplayer world. The button says Open to LAN or something like that. Hopefully this helps.
