Heard this song in the store soon after my mother died from Covid in 2020 and it took every part of me not to crumble and break down right then and there. She always played this song when I was a child, not to mention that she was my very best friend. 😭 Love and miss you, Mom. May you forevermore rest in paradise.

I was 13. Stephanie lived 2 blocks away from me. It was 1980 and I was graduating 8th grade. A week or so before the graduation dance, me and (I want to say Christine) my classmate/friend were out playing one day, and we went to her house and rang her doorbell. Her mom (she said she was her mom) answered and said she was out of the country. Lovely, pretty woman with a smile of an angel. I asked her mom if she can tell Stephanie we came by to ask if she could come to our graduation dance...LOL. Kids, right? We said we don't have any money to pay her, but we would be so grateful if she wanted to stop by since it was so close to her home. We left giggling and continued to play. Fast forward to the evening of the dance. Everyone suddenly began acting a bit overly excited. Teachers, classmates, chaperones, parents, etc., were all running up to me and telling me to get outside. The wonderful and talented Stephanie Mills shows up in her limo to St. Ursula on Lincoln Avenue in Mt. Vernon and joins the graduation dance. So amazing and blessed to have experienced this. Still have her autograph on a flower made from construction paper that the walls were decorated with. I am 56 now and will never forget the kindness of this beautiful human being. She made 2 little girls (and probably more) dream come true. Bless you Stephanie. May love, peace, and kindness follow you everywhere. xoxoxo

  • Just found out today that the writer of this song wrote it for his daughter being born and some how it makes this classic even sweeter...god bless the love of a child

This song is dedicated to Candy Ferocity from Pose. 1965-1990 πŸ™ I know it’s a show but her death hit me hard.
  • I had a dream last night about my mom last night. She was dancing and singing this song to me and my daughters. It felt so real her face and skin looked so perfect. I lost my mom last year due to covid complications and this dream gave me an unexplainable peace. I believe she was talking about Jesus! What a way to start the year! God bless you all! God is so good.

I went to see Miss Mills in concert with my two best friends. When she sang this song we held hands and cried. I will never forget the feeling of the grip of my friend squeezing my hand. It was over 30 years ago. My friends are no longer with me. Thank you for the love that feel whenever I hear this song
  • On the darkest saddest days... I play this magical song and my heart sings.
