1). You've never travelled to the US and 2) the moment all the tourists are gone and everything tanks and all of the workers are unemployed....look at this moment and remember...

Imagine all the wonderful millions in tourism dollars that will wind up everywhere but Spain!

Why go far, see what happened to Goa, a beautiful place spoiled by over Tourism. Same situation, almost similar to Barcelona. Goa has become super expensive thanks to over rich people throwing money at properties, making lives for the locals extremely expensive. Additionally, with the poor athiques and manners of tourist, it has also become very dirty. So this is not something new, same thing happened in Bali. So no need to over dramatise the situation in Barcelona.
  • I think it's jealousy...You foreigners don't come here and show off how much money you have to spend...😶

Look around at your own for the culprits.Tourist or Expats moving to a place doesn't increase the cost. The local owners of business who jack up the rates to squeeze every last dollar out of them is the issue. Trust me, tourists and expats don't want to pay more either.

Jamaica is open to tourists. Bring money and have a good time in “we” island !

I'd like to know what happens to the economy of these places once tourists totally refrain from visiting them. Would be interesting.
  • WELL WHAT ARROGANCE. PEOPLE ARE FREE TO VISIT THE COUNTRY IN THE WORLD IF THEY WANT.
  • One Mughal toilet cleaner from West Bengal called me a North Indian not knowing that North Indians are his Original Fathers.

And spain was a permanent coloniser...what a Joke
  • Tourists generate money for locals. Restuarant and hotel and transportation workers all get benefit. Turkey economy runs on tourist. Tourists go to Iran and Turkey; you will enjoy your trip. Do not go to Spain.

When any 1 occurs in an area and/or a region: your GDP grows by more than .25% per year~ (1.0025^100...), a fertility rate > 2.04~ (~1.02^100...), a population density > ~100/km² (look @ countries/cities in countries > 100/km2's century~ outlooks), your emissions don't decline (nothing's cleaned), hostages are created. ~Regions/countries'~ yearly % differences between GDP per capita ≠ life expectancy's, similarly, your ratio for '% changes in GDP per capita to life expectancy' > 1, w/o a STATED (hey ~gov't's!) tying~, or at least, annually compensatory $/resource mechanism, more hostages/inevitable conflict/harm in/to a ~region/area~'s created. How many people have been held hostage by whom, for how many years domestically /internationally?

Go home and stay home. I certainly go nowhere. Travel locally wherever you are from.

If Spaniards are upset look for a second or third job to survive the economic misfortune, I travel to Costa Rica and many locals are forced to do the same thing because people cannot afford the cost of living in that part of the world North Americans have imposed their will building golf courses, and American enterprises stop wining and get over it Spanish citizens it is what it is and deal with it, blame your corrupt government for your hardship not the tourists!
