Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis on Tuesday visited a Walgreens pharmacy in Stuart to sign a new law cracking down on retail theft. The owner of Timeless Treasure in Palm Beach has seen some thefts and says "we try to keep the valuables behind the counter or remove them at night."

Great for Floridians here in California theft is legal

Those laws are not harsh enough. It's obscure and needs to state exactly what the extra punishment is. Needs to be tougher..

When I was young, my mom used to shop in the Bronx with me. Most things were behind a glass counter in glass cases/drawers. You had to ask a sales lady for your items and she would get the items out in your size and color. Sales people had to help you look for dresses etc or you could just ask them when you were ready.

The title says new FL law, but the report says it is a modification of the existing law. There’s a difference. Journalists should be required to master the English language.
