Your son deserves a medal for his patience !
  • As a precision 22lr shooter this may be the best, most honest, with accurate information video I've ever seen explaining upgrades and the pros and cons of the upgrades and what acceptable groups look like for competition shooting. Awesome Awesome video!

Great video. I think we forget the most important component in any shooting activity. The shooter. We have a young guy in my club over here in the UK who has the one and only RimX's I've ever seen. They are incredibly expensive here. He had it custom built with what looks like a scaffold pole for a barrel and a very expensive chass. It cost him thousands. He won the first two competitions he tried. Then along came one of our "older" members with a 50/60+ year old BSA martini henry single shot target rifle. The kid with the RimX consistently comes second (sometimes third or worse) to the old timer with the BSA. in 50- and 100-meter bench rest comps. The old timer can sure shoot. Doesn't matter how much you pour into a gun if your shooting fundamentals aren't right you won't win. Love your work. Looking forward to the next one.

Consistent with my experiences with Rimfire. I shot NRA smallbore Silhouette and Rimfire PRS for years. I found that all rifles are picky for ammo, and when changing ammo, it takes about 10 rounds for the new ammo to re-foul the barrel with it's own dirt... so to speak. I also found Rimfires do NOT like clean bores. In fact, I did NOT clean my rimfires (match ammo only) until end of season, or about 4000 rounds, and then it would take about 50 rounds to get them properly fouled again. I shot mostly CZ (452 back then), and I never saw much for tuners in the open classes until the 2010's. If you're on a budget, go stock CZ, find the ammo it likes best, and use that leftover $$ NOT spent on a Vudu22 to shoot 1000's of rounds. One upgrade you didn't consider, I always put a Timney trigger on my competition rifles, a lot of times the only upgrade I did. That consistent trigger pull helped immensely. A+ Video, thanks.

As someone who hunts as well as range shoots a rifle that achieves cold bore + point of aim = point of impact and then goes on to shoot a ~ 0.7 MOA or less group including the cold bore is a shooter, no question. That lack of cold bore deviation is vitally important as a hunter. Congratulations on a series of informative and well thought out videos.

It’s your honesty that keeps me watching your channel.
  • Thanks for this video. The CZ 457 is a wonderful rifle. Your explanations and examples make it better !
  • @uda123cat
OUTSTANDING! Thank you for your willingness to challenge myths, provide data down range, and taking us along on your journey.

I have a CZ 457 Varmint in a Boyds AT One stock, using a Harrell tuner and also a bolt shim. It absolutely loves SK Standard Plus. When I do my part it's a 5 shot one hole group at 50 yards. I love my setup. I learn a lot watching your videos. Keep up the great work. Thanks.
  • I think a lot of people these days are just addicted to blowing money on accessorizing. I somewhat understand doing so if a person is competing and there is money on the line, but most guys just love to spend that money, regardless if they get results or not. I don't think most even look at cost / benefit analysis. I don't mind spending 3 or 4x what a stock rifle costs IF I get 3-4x the results. I can't justify that kind of cost to shoot a .050 or .100 smaller group, but then again I'm not a competitive shooter either. I'm enjoying the channel and honesty. Found you a couple days ago and subbed. Take care.

Excellent content, nicely presented and you did not try to push for your custom barrel...just presented what you observed and did not try to omit the data when got surprising result with the surpressor...thanks for the time and effort making this video, well appreciated.

man id love to see a video doing a MK2 performance upgrade like this! youre videos are awesome
  • Great video. Absolutely love all of your builds. Please keep them coming.
  • Great video. The one thing that will make that rifle shoot better in that factory plastic stock, is bedding the rifle with epoxy putty.
  • @txrcnoob
Thank you for making this video. There isn't much for rim fire competition in my area unless I go about 4 hours away. But I have been looking pretty hard at getting a 457. This is probably the most thorough video I have found.
  • @HouseholdDog
I like your show. It's very well presented and thought out.
  • Has there ever been a more popular rifle and calibre than the CZ 457, the net is buzzing with reviews on this beautiful rifle!
  • @ledeni012
Buddy, I'm only two minutes in, but I already know this is going to be one of the most interesting and educational videos on .22 LR precision rifles I've ever seen. Holy shit, this is going to be fantastic! Bravo!!!
  • @leath4m
My god! What great groups straight out of the box. CZ make great little guns.
  • @PatRMG
Enjoyed the easter eggs of knowledge throughout the video.
