Anker's Roav Bolt allows you to more easily access Google Assistant from the car. You can make calls, send messages, navigate the road, set reminders/calendar events, play music and much more!

In this video I walk through the setup process. It is required that your car has an AUX input or Bluetooth already in the car. I do show how you can use the device with an FM Transmitter as well.

Wait... a guy named “Tech with Brett” drives a car without Bluetooth?! I smell a new car video coming soon...

Finally finally I'm a truck driver I've been needing this forever I have to physically touch my phone to get Google Assistant to work now I can use my voice
  • Pro-tip: I use routines to shorten any "Ask X to Y" commands. In example of your garage, new routine so when you say "Close my garage" google assistant does "ask my q to close my garage" (or however its actually spelled)

Brett you find you're way round everythin....our content is a real eye opener.

I have had mine for about a week. I have enjoyed so far. This device is so much better than google auto, I know I've used both. The sound may be a little weaker than if your phone was plugged directly in.
  • @BarraHeist
This looks pretty sweet! It can be frustrating using Google Assistant in my car even though my phone sits directly infront of me so anything that helps is a winner

Has 170k subs. Does not have bluetooth or aux in his car. And a broken windshield. Damn the youtube money really is bad nowadays. OT: I have the same issue with my phone not activating assistant. But $49 is a bit much.

I've had the Roav Bolt for almost a year now and honestly I like it. I travel for work and it's made things easier for me on the road.
  • @Butrdtostngravy
Love the roundabout way you got it working. Sounds like something I'd do
  • As I’ve seen in the video, It worked perfectly fine. I noticed it works better than Siri on the AirPods, mainly to read and send messages. This device deserves a 10 score
  • @Josh_Quinonez
This is dope! Will need to check this out 👍 Thanks man

Wow, I’ve been looking for something like this! Game changer. Thanks, Bret.

I've had one of these for a few months and works really well with my 12 year old Ford Territory (Australia) and compares well with my much newer built in Android Auto Ford Sync 3 equipped Ford Escape. Apart from the screen of course. I love it and makes my older car feel up to date and agree with Brett, is something I've wanted for years. Thanks for the review Brett, awesome as always.
  • Your work-around setup reminds me of the ancient hands-free device I made back in the day of cassette players. I cut the plug end of an old wired headset with the tip for both the mic input and the headphone output and spliced on a small corded mike and one of those cassette shaped converters you could plug a portable CD payer into to play through the cassette player on your radio. Sadly they've all done away with the headphone jack on all but a cheap Motorola model I think. And even then the last few that still existed I think only had audio out and no mic input.
  • @MobiusGT
have you considered reviewing different android auto car radio replacements?
  • @iKingRPG
The FM transmitter is a good idea, because it you are playing music with the car radio it will interrupt it. I will do this, such a good idea

Man TY, this vid is right on time. I purchased the Garmin Speak & I love the device itself, but after a week of testing, and being sent out of the state when asking to navigate home, or getting directions to a business named after any word I spoke, I was going to return it today!! While I don't want to use Googles Eco System in my car and I LOVE the GARMIN & ALEXA paring even tho it only works with Apple devices, this takes me back to my original thoughts of just needing a better mic connection between my devices. Great to know it's not just MY system. I have been using the Bluetooth fm transmitter as that was my first purchase, I have a van and was able to plug it into the back of my vehicle, use a USB extention cable and run whichever device back to the front, or now use the double USB & Car Charger cup holder I found on sale for 10 bucks at Autozone. I can now plug the FM trnsmttr into the one CC port and my camera or other devices into the other or either of the USB ports. This also now gave me 6 to 8 varied ports to use...lol.. yet I still could not get my Garmin Speak to hear me over the wind and traffic noices etc. I saw a vid from Pixels Cracked where he was setting up an Infotainment System and used a FM tranmttr with a mic on it and I am wondering if you've tried this as it seems it would be a much more reasonably priced device, and if so, maybe you could do a vid on this because every single vid I've seen on the GS, Roav, and other Alexa enabled devices have spoken of the exact same problems. SO LET'S GET TO THE NITTY GRITTY OF THIS ISSUE as I think Amazon is delaying the Amazon Auto until it is figured out and we spend quite a bit of money otherwise. I'm going out to test some mics myself today and will be checking back with you
