ONE TAKE?! SPIRITBOX - 'Rule Of Nines' Vocal Coach Reaction & Analysis

Published 2023-07-28
In this video, I react for the first time to Courtney LaPlante of Spiritbox performing ‘Rule Of Nines’ in one take. In this video, I analyse her amazing performance, explain and demonstrate her vocal techniques and I'll tell you what I think made it so great. A female metal vocalist is great timing during women’s World Cup I reckon 🤘

I also used some AMAZING Austrian Audio Headphones which I absolutely recommend austrian.audio/hi-x55/ You can find them on YouTube too: @AustrianAudioVideos

I'm so excited to be a part of your singing journey, It's one that truly never ends.

Love you forever,

Her live one take of Circle With Me REALLY demonstrates how well her onsets have come along over the last few years, deffo recommend checking that out 😁
  • @cyberia55
Your own voice is AMAZING. You should cover some Spiritbox or Jinjer. 🥰
  • @elmonitorrr2978
Holy moly. All the words you use to explain the technical aspects are so on point and then you start singing on your own. So well done.
  • @Secanh0
What I like about your job is that you are one of the few (if not the only) vocal coach that DEMONSTRATE what you say.
  • @jayb7775
The One-Take performance of "Circle With Me" is transcendent. Next level switching!
  • @miguelalvarez2998
Amazing video as always, it will be great if you react to "circle with me" another one take from Courtney that's more recent (I look at Lolli like she looks at Courtney)
  • @finding7
All of their music is amazing, and Courtney is incredible. This one take is awesome, but the Circle With Me one take is absolutely everything. I know everyone else has suggested it, but really, it’s mind blowing. And there’s blue hair. So. How could you not love it?
  • @zephkoori
Honestly, I would absolutely love for you to react to Ayreon's "Everybody dies" performance. You'll get your money worth with the wide range of talents involved and the composition is brilliant in itself! Lots to dissect there ;) Great reaction as always, keep it up!

You are just the best human being on the whole internet. So fun to watch new things along with you and feel your excitement and learn!
  • @LeetChocolate43
please please please watch her circle with me onetake it is absolutely incredible. glad you enjoyed this song :) saw them live about a month ago and it was an absolute blast :)
  • @mylife1221
AAAAH SPIRITBOX!!!! her most impressive one take performance is the Circle With Me one, but if you wanna hear a metal vocalist with a great vocal range, check out Spencer Sotelo of Periphery. Periphery's song The Scourge is an excellent showcase of Spencer's vocal abilities, but you could also do the music video for their song Ragnarok. no vocal coaches ever really check him out, and it's devastating because he's so talented.
  • @Henkersknoten77
i've been waiting so long for you to check out Spiritbox ❤ Circle With Me and Blessed Be are really good live performances of hers as well.
  • @bensuttlesjr16
Incredible reaction and analysis as always. Spirit box is one of my favorite bands of all time. I think you would thoroughly enjoy her one take of Circle With Me. Really showcases her ability to flip from clean to distorted in no time flat. Cheers and keep up the amazing work!
  • @streetninjas313
Beautiful reaction as always! You MUST react to her One Take performances of Circle With Me to truly appreciate her vocal dexterity. Also Holy Roller really showcases her harsh vocals amazingly!
  • @markfisher2683
Yup- you are still my favorite reaction/ vocal/music education channel. Very nice reaction and breakdown! Really enjoy watching you work, and with Joy, FVM🥰🧐! Have a wonderful weekend!
  • @somedigitalist7681
Great analysis! One of the really interesting things about Courtney is that she seems able to play around on the edge between true fold phonation and harsh vocals without hurting her voice to much greater extent than most singers who can do both. She's also very deliberate in her use of vocal tempo, and her vocals usually have a deliberate rhythmic relationship to the song tempo. If you ever check out her one take of Circle With Me, you'll get to see an even more extreme example of her instantly flipping back and forth between cleans and screams multiple times in a single phrase.
  • @kapage74
Saw these guys in London a couple of weeks back and they opened with this. Absolutely nailed not only this but everything in the set. She's both an angel and demon in equal regard, and if anything better live than on record
  • @Japinaaa
Youre absolutely right about Spiritbox being good way to introduce people to metal. Ive been using Spiritbox and Courtney as my bulletproof "gateway drug" for when i show my music taste to people who are not accustomed to harsh vocals and music.
