It was fun making a fantasy map for once. I wanted to include some of Avatar Yangchen's or Avatar Szeto's stuff but unfortunately there are almost no canonical dates. Either way, enjoy!
  • @NIDELLANEUM
It feels rather ominous that the ATLA World's equivalent to "before Christ - after Christ" is "before genocide" and "after genocide"
  • The single frame of "Phoenix Empire".... Ozai really thought that was gonna be something
  • @Spiderfisch
1:50 this is the moment everything changes when the fire nation attacks
  • @joaosoares3161
Love how you made Kyoshi island into an actual island throughout the video
  • @52flyingbicycles
Very funny how most of the large scale conflicts were resolved by a single decisive battle. Chin the Conquerer: defeat at Kyoshi Peninsula (island) Fire Nation: defeat at Wulong forest and recapture of Ba Sing Se Kuvira: defeat at Republic City

I would argue that the majority of the Air Nomad islands were under Fire Nation control. Obviously they didnt occupy the temples, but the ports and small villages would have probably been major centres of power for the Fire Nations Navy.

There looks to be an error around 2:54 - there was no war in Ba Sing Se

It's cool as hell. There are things that Interpret differently. For example I don't think Omashu's autonomy was very unique. Before Kuvira it was said that Earth King had very little influence in all of the Earth Kingdom but Ba Sing Se, and central interferention was mostly limited to taxation and conscription. Also I think that Fire Nation captured way more, probably encircling Omashu before taking it. There was Fire Nation army near Chin-Kyoshi island as well, it was showed twice.

Finally, I've been waiting for a good Avatar map for way too long. This is amazing, I especially love how accurate the Sun Warriors and Kyoshi Island is in this. Though I think the Fifth Nation controlled some of the Earth Kingdom and Air Nomad coastlines.

Chin the conqueror must of been some military genius to have conquered basically the whole earth kingdom in less than a decade
  • The details like the Kyoshi Island getting separated from the rest of the Earth Kingdom, the firts invation of Ba Sing Se or the complete annihilation of the Air Nomads were perfect. Good video.
  • @Ultrasound700
I always assumed the Fire Nation took over all of the Earth kingdom, save for areas like the swamp and desert that weren't worth the effort.
  • I guess we're waiting for the Water Tribe's and Air Nomad's turns at painting the map.
  • Respect for the men of the 41st division who covered Iroh”s retreat from Ba Sing Se. Especially Lu Ten”s 2nd battalion.

As a kid I thought it was insanely stupid for Ozai to burn down the Earth Kingdom using Sozin's Comet. Because even if the Fire Nation had to face rebellions, it won't do them any good to turn the land they've been conquering for 100 years into ash and smoke, while also wiping out most of their tax paying subjects living there. But seeing how more than half of the Earth Kingdom was still out of their grasp. It now makes total sense that he would go down the total annihilation route and choose to eliminate the part of the Earth Kingdom that was still not under his control.

One of the most interesting histories in media
  • @riko_sandokan
Fun fact: s02e05 of Avatar contained one of the first mapping animations, showing the rise of Qin's Empire.
