We need more video like this on the KWS-1. BTW, to see a more pronounced dip on tune, just turn down the carrier level knob, it' may be too high. If that does not work, turn down the PA Loading knob. For additional clarification, perform a final dip after you switch to operate to make sure that when you reach 500ma, it's still resonant by adjusting the PA Turning by dipping the plate current as the last step, not just using the PA Loading by itself to get 500ma. LOL!! Ignore the below, I just saw your "canary" video. A way more accurate way of zeroing the tx to the rx is to unmute the rx and use the tweety bird method like the Drake twins. It is difficult to hear low bitched zero beat and you can easily be off 20-40 hz. By using mike feedback you can easily get within 5--zero cycles. I've owned an A-4 and 51J3 years ago, but not the Collins transmitter.

Why stack the gear like that? There will be excessive heat transfer from the transmitter to the receiver. Capacitor life will suffer. Believe me, don’t stack vacuum tube radio units like that.
