The music video is based on the movie eternal sunshine of the spotless mind. People who ended a relationship were so hurt, they wanted to erase the whole relationship from their memory to not feel it anymore but at a certain point they realized it wasn't all bad and they still wanted to look back on the good memories. It's better to have loved and lost then never to have loved at all 💔
