I was never a fan of open-cockpit Le Mans prototypes. It’s amazing to me how they became the preferred styling choice when you consider the aerodynamic & safety advantages of closed cockpit. Thank God Peugeot came along a few years later and got things back on track for sportcars.

I believe I remember reading that, while the peak power had not changed since 2006 for the V12 TDI, the power and torque curves were improved as to make the power more useable. The Peugeot 908 also has more power partly as it is allowed to run a larger intake restrictor since closed-cockpit designs need to use air conditioning.

Tickets were around 45 €, plus around another 90 € if you wanted to be seated in grand stands.

WOW..they actualy mention the flip that happen in this track back in 1999!! good memories
  • This was the first year for the R10 TDI, and without the Peugeot to challenge, it walked over the competition just as the R8 had for years. Since 2000, Audi has built the best race cars in the world, the R8 will go into the books as a legend like the Porsche 962 for sure. Now, if they could only get that damn R15 to work out better.

oh shoot the circuit de la sarthe course. This was used on the 24 hours of le mans mode on GRID and they have the one from 1968 without the two side turns on the long straightaways

No. Johan Cruyff wasn't the goalkeeper of the Dutch football team in the 70s. He was midfield and captain.

I know the exchange rate is shit at the moment, but a GA ticket would cost you 60 euro's, which would mean 85 bucks. You can always get GA's at the gate, camping passes is a different matter, we just ordered the 2008 tickets already. ;)
