being icelandic had never been as amazing as it was that day

as an england fan my brain hurts when i think about the fact a team with a young harry kane and 15/16 jamie vardy as striking options didn’t get past iceland in the ro16
  • England’s ability to absolutely bottle it no matter how stacked the team is is something really incredible. Like damn. How many quarter final knockouts again
  • @Strawt
Roy putting Kane on corners was him playing 4D chess just no one is intellectual enough to realise it
  • Throughout 2008-2016 my mental health depleted watching England now its we actually progressing forward 😂
  • That Icelandic commentator omg that's absolute passion that's hard to describe....what a legend

You don't know how painful this is to watch as an England fan. To see our humiliation laid out, to remember what it was to watch that game, to remember the hope and belief we had (especially after the first goal) and not to disagree with a single word in this video.

More England failures please. Love from Wales

I remember watching England Wales at school...good times 😔

As an Englishman, I specifically remember this game because I watched in a pub, with my German girlfriend and her German family, who spent the entire game gloating whilst I had my head in my hands downing my beers as fast as I could, losing a bit of sanity every time I watched Harry Kane step up to take a corner, praying that the alcohol would help erase my memory in the morning... It didn't, it was one of the worst moments of my life to this day
  • The problem for England is that the quest for a trophy has become akin to a search for the holy grail. It just means too much. We as a consequence do better when nobody expects us too. If you aren't from England or a football fan you will never understand this fact.

0:16 You say 30 years of pain and the year was 1996, huh? IT'S COMING HOME IN 2026 LET'S GOO!!
  • Living in England. I remember this whole tournament because I told everyone I knew in my school Iceland would win and they all laughed at me. The next day after the game. Everyone was looking like I was responsible for the loss. I didn't care because I support portugal. And we won. I do remember wales vs england in school it was like a fucking stampede of the other classes coming running down the corridor after the winner.

Thanks for brining back some nice memories as an Icelander. And it's always nice to laugh at England.

Whenever the Icelandic players reflect on the 2016 Euros the one thing they all seem to agree on is that the England game was by far the easiest they played in the whole tournament. As soon as they took the lead they knew they were gonna win, because it didn't feel like England could do anything to seriously threaten them.
