    I have been doing some warm winter painting myself! I just painted a homelite XL12 a lime green and sanded all the trim around the edges shiny bare metal with a clear coat covering everything and it turned out looking bitchin! If im not mistaken? That paint color you were showing us viewers from Chrysler is the color that they used on a 392 hemi engine i used to own!

    I found the Duplicolor engine paint last year, it is a pleasing color for the Homelite. I use Rustoleum clear coat over it and Rustoleum automotive primer to start off, all in rattle cans. I was doing some Jonsereds saws from the 70's and 80's too and this paint color was a good match for that. But I kept desiring a closer match and hoped to find a paint system that had more hardness/durability, the Duplicolor system tends to be a bit tender even after a month cure, maybe it gets better with old age. I went down to the automotive paint shop and was easily able to get super close for particular shades with an automotive Urethane. They can put it into a rattle can, which I did some, but I decided to use a small air gun, less than $30 off amazon, it has a 250 ml cup and it can literally tune down to air brush like application, or apply heavier as you need, perfect size for saw parts painting. To the urethane I added a hardener and cut the mix with reducer, man does the paint flow nicely. The hardener produces a super gloss and within a few days of application the paint was really hard, literally felt like a powder coat, found no need for clear coat with this system. The one drawback is the cost, that automotive red paint is spendy stuff but for me the job it does is worth it. That red and green ya got there is sure eye catching, old school looking!

    Wish I had a media blaster. Sand paper and steel wool to make metal shinny and reflect is best i can do. Oh and steel wool on those copper lines look like new

    I would mod gaskets for that kart carb. Be cool carb for that saw
  • I believe I have the base plate for the starter. I'll look when I go into shop this morning. I can send it to u if I have it. Saw looks a lot like a model 17

    Do you need to leave a gap between crankshaft and case for lube to reach the bearing?
